Video games also suffered from this from 2005-2010, or what I call the "Brown & Bloom" era of graphics where everything looks dull brown, yet oddly bright from all the damn bloom lighting.

but seriously though I fucking hate this trope, it's so incredibly ugly and an unflattering portrayal of pretty much any non-American country (esp Mexico and/or the Middle East)

in video games it's a touch more forgivable, but you still end up with a product that's incredibly dull and boring to look at

I quit when they published that article about "4 depressing things that women have to deal with as Wikipedia editors".

The first two points were just general background about how editing on Wikipedia works, and then the second two were all about discrimination against transgender individuals.

It's kind of like how all on Sony's IPs have that dark and dull color filter attached to all of their games that make them look horrible. Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War come to mind.
