To this day, I have never bothered getting Knights of the Round or any celestial weapon except Yuna's.

Almost always as long as I enjoy the game. If Im not enjoying a game very much, I make a beeline for the finish and usually never touch it again so in that particular case, no.

It depends on how hard it is to get. Some of the best stuff is behind insane walls and it's like only a madman get those.

also something like Knights of the round is just tedious not very hard if you know what to do. Other things like say Excalibur II in IX or Zodiac Spear in the base game of XII are things that just make my mind go numb.

Hell freaking no. I get the things that are reasonable to get, I "mostly" complete the game, and I move on. I'm a completionist in the very broad sense, but I don't bother truly 100%'ing things with silly requirements.

Oh, and I hate crafting systems. Fuck crafting.

Being a completionist absolutely sucks. I speak from experience because once upon a time Id make it a point to do everything that I can in a game regardless of how I feel about the game. It is fine with timeless classics and games I enjoy playing even if it has an obnoxious side quest here and there that has like 0 entertainment value. But games that you find a chore to play can make you absolutely miserable if you are making a point to do everything in it.

The moment I shed off that bad habit, I had infinitely better times with games good or bad. I dont even bother with platinum trophies in even games I really really enjoy now unless I just happen to get it while Im doing everything I wanted to do in the game.

Yes, always.

I like to be overpowered for the final boss.

Depends on how complicated it is.

FFX's gear and everything? Hell fucking no. Tales of Zestiria/Berseria +10 crafting with the right skills bred to the final weapon? Noooooooooooooo. Endgame sidequests with optional bosses? Probably.

If it takes 5000 hours of crafting or leveling or both then that's a quick 'hell no'

otherwise it depends on the difficulty

Depends on how much trouble it is. I'll fight a sideboss or do an extra dungeon but I'm not gonna look up a guide and savescum and dodge fifty gajillion lightning bolts and stuff like that.

No matter what kind of completionist you are you draw a line in the sand somewhere.

I usually go for close to 100% if I find the content meaningful enough, and I'm very lenient about that. But grinding to Level 99 in FFVII for instance or getting max stats is not part of that. Getting all materia and ultimate weapons/armor/limit breaks and beating the Weapons would be.

Depends on how much I like the game and how much of a pain in the ass it is to get.

Yeah, depends on how hard it is to get. But generally I don't go for the absolute best equipment since the final boss should be doable without them.

Not for usually for casual playthrough unless it's easy to obtain.

I will if there's a trophy for it

Depends on the game. If it's a game I really enjoy then I will.

I have gotten 100% in both those games you mention, in fact I think they're my only RPG platinums lol.

Neither is that bad or time consuming even,

As a kid I loved doing that but now I absolutely cannot. I realize that all these things are put into the game to stretch the gameplay for those who really just want more time with it, and that ain't me. No reason to force myself through that just for the sake of it.

That said, it's glorious when there IS a game that I feel good enough about to 100%. Very rare but very sweet.

With RPGs I tend to find myself saying I'm going to 100% them, then get bored and give up. Most of them just have way too much crap to do and I'd rather just move on to a new game and experience a new story.

If it's a game that I'm enjoying and the requirements aren't excessively tedious, then sure.

For example, I got all of them in FFX except for the lightning dodging one (after a run where I messed up at around 182 dodges, I couldn't take it anymore).

Meanwhile, FFXIII's ultimate weapons required you to farm incredibly rare materials to craft them, and after several days of trying, I could barely get any of those, so I gave up on it entirely. I never managed to finish the last handful of sidequests, either. Thankfully the sequels weren't nearly as brutal.

At the end of FFXIII, I actually had many more Trapezohedrons than I needed to craft the ultimate weapons. Not as incredibly rare as some materials I've gotten (hi, original NieR).

I just skipped the RNG aspect of FFXIII rare drops by instead farming an incredibly common drop that sold for a lot. Buying my traps was way easier
