I seem to be of the unpopular opinion that this season is really good, so i am looking forward to tonight. I do agree that it has been exposition heavy and some characters have been a little aimless but im too old to give a shit anymore and just ask for basic entertainment

Yeah if this was based in logic the AI would have nipped this in the bud a while ago

Maybe they will have some sort of explanation for it

This is a show I haven't heard anyone talk about for a while. Reminds me of that show Heroes, where everyone gushed over the first season, then...nothing.

Only eight episodes, which reminds me I haven't seen 7 yet.

I like this season better than the last for sure.

Season 2 of westworld is mediocre, I might even say bad :/. This season has been better but S2 killed a lot of good will that season 1 had

I am confused as to why they even needed to rescue him. What was the goal there?

The explanation is very simple, my friend.

https://www.themarysue.com/lisa-joy-jonathan-nolan-westworld-me-too/

Watching women who weigh maybe 120 pounds beating up armed special forces in hand to hand combat is just laughable trash. A sneak attack, sure. An unarmed Tessa Thompson basically killing a fully decked out Bob Sapp lookalike in an elevator is unbelievably stupid, and "a robot is superhuman" just doesn't fly as an explanation.

Thankfully, audiences aren't buying it. Scores from this season compared to season 1 aren't close.
I mean i dont care about the gender of the robot as the robot is a superhuman explanation is fine for me when it comes to beating people up im more tripped up as to how the ai that predicts everything cant predict a lesser ai. Whether its a male or female one doesnt really change anything

Yeah like i enjoyed williams plot this season in the small doses that it was but i still have zero idea why they came there and there was zero follow up to it. Just a bizarre writing choice

Oh yes, it's all because female androids are beating people up in a sci-fi show. That's exactly why this season isn't as good.

Oh I have no problem with Tessa as a person or an actress, don't get me wrong. Looking forward to Love and Thunder a lot because of her.

It's not the only reason, but people are long since over that garbage. There is a reason no one went to see Charlie's Angels, Ghostbusters 2016, or Birds of Prey.
That stuff is annoying man and im sure the directors had some agenda but for me when it comes down to robots i feel like whether they are wearing male or female skin doesnt really have a bearing on their strength

Again, im sure there is some agenda, but i didnt feel like i was suspending belief because of that. I definitely had to suspend belief when there were like 20 trained people with futuristic machine guns and they couldnt hit people at short range. THAT shit is the worst

Season was great. Made up for season twos wildly uneven quality. The shows nuance has faded and formerly complex notions have been simplified to an extent, and that led to a surprisingly straightforward plot this year. But I think thats honestly more or less what it needed now.

Finale, and to an extent the season in full, reminded me a lot of a weird mix between MGS4, Fight Club, and... Voltaire? Whatever, I dug it.

Jesus, can't escape Ulti's dumbassery in any topic. Thanks for the reminder to mute you.

Finale was decent, I'd put season 3 leagues ahead of 2. Setup for 4 has me excited for where the show will go from here.

I dont necessarily think he is being a "dumbass" here as he is just off target, as regardless of how you feel about modern media subverting a lot of norms (i am of the belief that there is a point where doing it just for the point of doing it can be annoying but for the most part its harmless and sometimes cool) the "girl power" stuff didnt really play into things here as they are robots

In fact it almost added to dolores' frighteningness when she played the villain because the outside was a pleasant harmless girl but on the inside was something that could and would rip you in half

They didn't? Bernard noted that William being at the facility was coincidental, the real purpose they had for going there was to learn about the rehabilitation program, its connection to Incite, and Caleb's tie to it. I think they took William along afterwards because Bernard realized having the former head of Delos might be useful at some point even if he wanted to kill them. It was probably pretty dumb how they gave him as much freedom as they did which to be fair almost did kill them had Ford not been 10 steps ahead of everyone else and had a SWAT team tailing Bernard but the idea wasn't necessarily dumb since William did have enough insight into Dolores's way of thinking to correctly gather how the Hale fork of her would act and how she would try to create a host army.

As for the season as a whole... it feels like it really got away from Season 1 and 2 and... I'm not sure what to think about that. It's like it wanted to become Person of Interest 2 this season and while normally I'd be super down for that because PoI was amazing it just felt pretty jarring for Westworld to become that so quickly. Felt like an overcorrection to audience reaction to Season 2 honestly. I was hoping so much for some kind of follow-up to the Season 2 stinger and we got nothing there.

Okay, so Maeve, probably the smartest and most cunning character (not to mention most OP and my personal favorite) in this entire show's history is somehow stupid enough to think the main villain will be true to his word. The writing here is just fucking straight trash.

What a terrible season.
Yeah they sadly kinda just said fuck it with maeve this season :(

Well because they were shit movies that hamfisted "girl power." Your problem, as I understood it, was that it wasn't realistic for female robots to be able to fight grown men. I mean, come on. I don't disagree that this season was not good (though I liked it more than season 2), but that wasn't one of the reasons why. If anything, seeing Evan Rachel Wood and Tessa Thompson play essentially badass terminators was one of the highlights.

UltimaterializerX posted... Half the problem was the set burning down because of wildfires last year, which I'm convinced led to a lot of changes in the script. You can thank California government for that one. They banned controlled burns and cleaning up the brush, so the second a fire happens in one of their forests it goes out of control.

Not necessarily disagreeing, but PG&E, whose power lines started most of the fires in the past three years, is perhaps the most criminally irresponsible utility in the history of the U.S., and they're currently getting reamed in multiple courts because of it.

Was talking about his calling the super powered robot that can break through steel chains beating someone up being a Mary Sue moment. Maybe one of these decades Ulti will pull his head out of his ass, not holding my breath though.
His heads been up there so long he must be damn good at holding his though.
