Literally nothing to gain from it. It's the only political party in the world of an "advanced" society that outright rejects advice from scientists and oublic health experts. This is destructive shit on the level of fucking Ghana and Iran, not goddamn US of A.

Too many of them view science as something that disproves the existence of God and that scares them.

They're not mentally capable of thinking maybe God does exist and gave us science so we can figure his creations out without shrugging our shoulders.

Any new developments?

There is that corona linked illness in children in NY. Up to 95 cases. Also Russia has had 10k new cases for like 11 days straight something only US has done. Russia now 2nd most infected country.

Feels like a "second wave" type story might be a narrative the media wants to push like a breakout in gym, plant, or another area after these reopenings might be the type of story they are gunning for right now.

So you think there won't be a "second wave" and that the media is lying? Because that's a pretty stupid thing to believe if so.

Nope i'm not saying the media is lying nor that I don't believe in a second wave. Was just saying what might be the next story the media in the US are hoping for. If it bleeds it leads is the saying. I kinda haven't been following this stuff much myself either. Went from everyday. To every other day. Might start to check once a week what is happening. If other people are doing the same more reason to get a fear type story out there.

I can name two things Fauci has been right about. I did not start out liking Fauci. He comes across as having more presence than he has science.

Here are the two things.

He gets people to stay calm.
He gets people to take the coronavirus seriously.

I love him for this and I hope he does not get real sick from the WH flu.

Perhaps even more important is the possibility that routine close contact, as within a family household, can spread the disease.

I don't know how well the medical world understood the virus at that point, but it looks to me like he's speaking hypothetically based on recent findings that hadn't been further investigated yet. So what's the damning part here, exactly?

Probably has to do with a lot of different factors relating to scale, transmittability, etc. Sounds like you're interested enough to research all that, rather than using one nearly 40-year-old quote about something very shallowly related to the current situation as a reason to write him off.

He's talking about the possibility as there were some cases with infants that had popped up at the time. Using words like 'may' and 'possibility' in the sentence changes the wording completely from your earlier post.

Wuhan getting a resurgence?

from ktLA site article "In response to the outbreak, authorities in Wuhan will conduct city-wide nucleic acid testing over a period of 10 days, according to an emergency notice issued by local authorities and circulated by state run media outlet The Paper.
Nucleic acid tests work by detecting the virus genetic code, and can be more effective at detecting the infection, particularly in the early stages, than tests which examine a bodys immune response, though the latter are easier to conduct."

I've been back at work this week, and honestly, I'm frustrated, because my three coworkers not only don't care about this stuff, but actively think the safety measures are stupid. Granted, it's not hard for me to distance from them, and I only have three coworkers, but there are still shared spaces and equipment we all need access to.

I can do what I can to protect myself, but it just feels like no matter what I do, it won't matter, because none of them give a fuck, so if they get it, it won't matter how much I try to protect myself.

I dunno. I'd like to think the odds are still low, given the nature of the job, but it's still frustrating nonetheless. I don't hate my job, but if I die from coronavirus because I got it from someone at work (or if I'm responsible for the death of a family member for transmitting it to them), I'm going to be pretty pissed that that happened all because of my dumb job.

I agree that wearing a mask is not going to work. I have one with seals inside and filters that is supposed to work and I can hear myself breath when I wear it.

The problem is that they could be contagious without symptoms ??? From what we have all read then when an asymptomatic spreader talks is when he is most dangerous.

the virus could be laying dormant in the body and once viral load becomes high you can show symptoms so its possible, that could be the reason why many people test positive then negative then positive again. Nobody truly knows much about this virus for certain right now.
