Major updates:

-The US now has 1.1 million cases with over 65k deaths. NY State now has about 315k with over 2rk deaths. NYC alone has around 170k cases with around 18k deaths.
-Georgia along with Texas, Colorado and other states are starting to prematurely reopen certain businesses DESPITE warnings from health officials that it is too soon as well as not meeting the White House guildlines for a 14 day decrease. Overall, about 32 states partially opened by today.
-Others states whose stay at home orders were ending soon, have extended it into later May and beyond.
-Dr Fauci announced that the drug Remdesivir, showed a "clear cut" effect in helping with the virus and decreasing the time to recovery by 4 days. The FDA issued an emergency use authorization of the use of the drug.
-CA Governor, Gavin Newsom, reclosed beaches and parks due to people ignoring social distancing.
-The USNS Comfort left the Hudson River in NYC and returned to Virginia.
-NY governor, Andrew Cuomo laid out a plan to close the NYC MTA subway system from 1 AM to 5 AM to disinfect every night. To help essential workers and those with emergencies, the state will provide buses and other for-hire transportation services for free.

Florida. Moved down here a few years ago, just in time for Hurricane Irma and Mayor-from-Jaws leadership during a pandemic. We're supposed to have an above-average hurricane season this year too. Having to deal with a hurricane in the middle of the second wave of covid-19 (or at any point during covid-19) would be particularly nightmarish.

it's really unsafe to walk around :( unless have a mask it's only mitigated a little with social distancing.
i did finally get an hour to play pokemon go for exercise but i kept to a few city blocks, very few people out and about because it rained hard this morning (which is no problem for an umbrella).

Has anyone else heard this fake news that's spread around about surgical masks being worn white side out unless you are sick? Obviously, it's bullshit and there is only one way to properly wear a mask, but I've heard and seen this from multiple people IRL. Guess it's some random Facebook shit.

Basically, I have zero confidence that covid deniers will ever stop being such. The goal posts will continually get moved assisted by crazy conspiracy theories.
