I'm totally expecting for theaters to die out eventually and have "premium subscriptions" or "premium rentals" instead for newer release movies. Of course the problem here is that high budget movies won't be as profitable anymore on a consumer side, but I'm sure they will figure out a way to make it profitable somehow.

Oh puh-lease. You don't need to see comedies or dramas on the big screen, and super mega fans ruin first time experiences with annoying, out of place screams and commentaries during action film like MCU movies.

VOD is the much needed way.

The best part of the theater is that you are basically compelled to focus on the movie. Cell phones off, no distractions. The large screen and sound system are definite checkmarks, but the experience of sharing a movie with a room full of people who are specifically there only for the purpose of watching the movie?

Hell yes. It's a great feeling.

Agreed

also I go to Flix Brewhouse for movies (similar to Alamo I assume) and they are strict about silence, as well as they dont even let people into the movie once it starts

you order food/drink by writing down your order on a notepad and pressing a button and they bring it to you within minutes

just an all around good experience

That's a different story. Blockbuster, though I'm sad it's gone, was just about going in and walking around to choose your movies or games. The theater experience can't be matched by a home theater system (in most realistic cases). I hope theaters won't go out of style, I can't imagine it. Total darkness, massive screen, huge surround sound... I just don't see it going out of style

Every AMC I've been to is nice for like the first month then it gets completely destroyed and no one maintains it. The one I used to frequent had stab wounds in most of their seats lmao

Regals here still haven't upgraded to recliners. Cinemark is the tits and they have the cheapest concessions + best subscription service.

That's a pretty shitty reason. We have millions of people stuck at home, movies going to VOD early was one of those things that made me have a little more faith in humanity. No it's not a big deal, but it was a small gesture that helps get through these times with some entertainment.

Home theater setup.

Make some Bombass popcorn except with real butter and seasoning.

Invite friends/family over.

If you want to get REALLY authentic have your little cousins kick the back of your seat every once and awhile.

The popcorn is great too. The only bad part about the theater experience is whenever some asshat a few rows down takes out their bright cell phone. If I had flawless aim Id throw some popcorn at them.

Agreed with this. But you can come damn close! I have a 5.2.2 surround sound system with a 140 inch silver-infused screen and a 4k BenQ projector; but I still go to AMC for their Dolby Cinema for spectacle movies.
