Oakland Raiders 6-9 Super Eliminated from Playoff Contention 12. New York Jets 6-9 13. Kansas City Chiefs 6-9 14. Jacksonville Jaguars 5-10 15. Buffalo Bills 4-11 16. Cincinnati Bengals 3-12 Dolphins will be seeded #1 Winner of Pioneers/Colts will be seeded #2 If Pioneers lose to Colts, they will be seeded #5 If Colts lose to Pioneers, they could be seeded #5 or 6 depending if the Pats win (Pats hold head-to-head tiebreaker over Colts) and how the AFC North shakes out The AFC West winner is locked as the #4 seed. The Broncos win the AFC West with a win. The Hawks win the AFC West with a win and Broncos loss. The Raiders win the AFC West with a win and losses by both the Broncos and Hawks. It is possible that the Ravens have clinched the division and thus the Browns are eliminated. However, the Browns' only path to the playoffs is through the division, and that would stem from a Ravens loss, Browns win, and the Browns win on common games tiebreaker (like I said, Ravens could already have that tiebreaker won, but I haven't done any research into that). If the Browns do win, Ravens lose, and Browns do win the AFC North, the Pats would secure a playoff spot with a win in that scenario. If that scenario plays out, and the Pats lose, both the Ravens and Pats would have 8-4 conference records, so it would go to common games, which I am not researching as of this moment. To break down the seeding 1. Dolphins 2. AFC South winner (Pioneers/Colts) 3. AFC North winner (Ravens/Browns) 4. AFC West winner (Broncos/Hawks/Raiders) 5. Pioneers if they lose to Colts or one of Colts/Pats/Ravens 6. NFC Playoff Picture
Playoff Teams 1. Minnesota Vikings 13-2 (clinched NFC North) 2. Washington Redskins 11-4 (NFC East leaders, clinched playoff spot) 3. St. Louis Rams 8-7 (NFC West leaders) 4. Carolina Panthers 8-7 (NFC South leaders) 5. Dallas Cowboys 11-4 (Wild Card #1, clinched playoff spot) 6. Atlanta Falcons 8-6 (Wild Card #2) Playoff Contenders 7. Las Vegas Pumpkins 8-7 8. New York Giants 8-7 9. San Francisco 49ers 7-8 10. Anaheim Lightning 7-8 11. Detroit Lions 7-8 Eliminated from Playoff Contention 12. Chicago Bears 6-9 13. Seattle Seahawks 5-10 14. Toronto Wildcats 5-10 15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 5-10 16. Green Bay Packers 4-11 Vikings have secured the #1 seed NFC East winner will secure the #2 seed. The Redskins get it with a win or Cowboys loss/tie. The Cowboys get it with a win and Redskins loss or tie. Whichever of the Redskins/Cowboys that does not win the division gets the #5 seed. The winner of the Rams/49ers game wins the NFC West. If the Rams win, the 49ers are eliminated from playoff contention. If the 49ers win, the Rams are still in play for the second wild card. If the Panthers win and the Falcons lose or tie, the Panthers win the NFC South. The Falcons get the division with a win and Panthers loss or tie. The wild card scenarios are a complete nightmare given the similar resumes, so I won't even touch those beyond the basics. It is possible that the Lions and Lightning are already eliminated from playoff contention, but I'm not going to do any research. Due to tiebreaker rules, a Falcons loss and Lightning win would eliminate Falcons from wild card consideration. In a similar bind, the Giants would be eliminated from wild card consideration if the Pumpkins win or the Giants lose. To break down the seeding 1. Vikings 2. NFC East winner (Washington/Cowboys) 3. NFC West or South winner (Rams/49ers/Panthers/Falcons) 4. NFC West or South winner (Rams/49ers/Panthers/Falcons) 5. Washington/Cowboys 6. like half of the NFC --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy If you smell what the rock is cooking he's cooking crap - ertyu ... Copied to Clipboard!

From what I can tell...
If you win, the rams would have to be 6 because 5 is already locked up by skins/boys. If you win, you finish with a worse record (8-8) than the NFC south winner because we're both 8-7 and one of them will be 9-7 or 8-7-1, thus locking up the 3 spot and relegating you to the 4th spot. Therefore, it seems impossible to have a scenario in which both you and the rams occupy 3 and 6 with you having won the week 17 game. Edit: never mind I think this is wrong, I forgot to account the possibliity that both falcons and panthers can lose, in which case I have to check tiebreakers --- I'm a greener egg than the eggs from dr. seuss ... Okay after going over just mine and the rams tiebreaks, here's what I've got:
For starters, if the 49ers beat the rams, the rams only playoff hopes would be the 6th seed, due to as I mentioned above the boys/skins locking up 5th. Therefore, you (scare) would need a 3-6 matchup. Is this possible? Let's look at how/if the 49ers can get the 3 seed first. If the 49ers win, they're 8-8 with a 7-5 conf record. Due to the panthers/falcons being 8-7 currently, you first need both teams to lose and pull through on conf record, so is that possible? Falcons: 7-5 conf record with a week 17 loss, 3-3 div record Panthers: 6-6 conf record with a week 17 loss, 5-1 div record 49ers: 7-5 conf record with a week 17 win, 4-2 div record So yes, it looks like the 49ers would claim the 3 seed if they won and the panthers and falcons both lost! Now as for the rams retaining the 6th seed with a loss... Falcons: see above Panthers: see above Rams: 6-6 conf record with a week 17 loss, 2-4 div record So without even having to look at the myriad other 7-8/8-7 teams that are in play, we can see that by virtue of even a single team (and we have 2 here right off the bat that would surpass the rams on ties) beating the rams, that whoever at 8-8 has the best tiebreaker would end up with the 6 seed, whether it's the nfc south rep or some other team whose ties I didn't check. So in short, no, if I have everything correct it does not look like there is a scenario in which the 49ers can win vs the rams and then play them again in the WC round. It also appears that if this scenario happens, that an 8-8 team would need a 7-5, 4-2 or better to supplant the falcons. Does that team exist? I'm not sure, but that's the benchmark just checking the tiebreakers that i have. --- I'm a greener egg than the eggs from dr. seuss ... Copied to Clipboard!
