Board 8 > Suggestion for bonus polls during break: play-off matches against pre-2010 games

So we are going to have a break now. Last contest, we didn't have any bonus polls in-between, but I still think that was a good idea! And to give us stats nerds some fun, here is my suggestion: put those final 16 games from this bracket in play-off matches against games that are not in this bracket!

So we could get stuff like BotW vs FInal Fantasy 7, Super Mario 64 vs Dark Souls, etc. This gives us some fresh new data to make predictions with, but at the same time is not a perfect spoiler for the upcoming matches since we still have to extrapolate from 2015 like we have been doing so far.

What do you think?

Such matches would be better off held after the contest IMO. It would not be a "perfect spoiler" but it would heavily incentivize making your Second Chance bracket at the last minute for the best data.

Bonus matches would be fantastic, but you wouldnt want to give the results away. So I would suggest special matches with games that already lost old and new. So you could have say INSIDE vs. Obra Dinn (weak masterpiece special), Arkham City vs. Arkham Asylum, FFXV vs. FFXIV, and so on.

Please bring back bonus matches though, they were great.

I would like to see some of the worst games of the 2010s in action. Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, Metal Gear Survive, WWE 2K20, Fallout 76, Ride to Hell: Retribution, SimCity 2013, Dungeon Keeper, etc.

Sounds like a good idea, except for the fact it means Allen has to create contest images for the pre-2010 games that would be participating in these bonus polls unless he's willing to have the board create them on such short notice with the break coming up in less than 12 hours from now. The contest pictures used in the first 3 rounds of this contest can be re-used for any games from this bracket that will be in the bonus polls, so that's not an issue.

I suspect if we do get bonus polls, Allen would prefer to limit them to only the games from this bracket as this means re-using existing contest images.

I want to save huge ones like BotW vs FF7 for the next full Contest. Anything else "just for fun" with the best games should be done after everything's over IMO, to not spoil upcoming results.

For the bonus poll after the final match of the contest, I would like to see the winner vs. Majora's Mask (the previous GotD winner). That makes the most sense for a bonus poll after the final match. It would most likely end up being Breath of the Wild in that match, unless The Witcher 3 wins due to a rally.
