Yea I have a Jeskai Fires deck that I normally use for ladder, but I'll likely try something more fun for this. I don't personally care if people do tier 1 decks but also consider this as a chance to play something else!

the last time i played competitively was last year, pre-rotation. back then it was primarily aggro, control, and midrange. a tiny bit of combo but it wasn't very good

after spending an hour in the competitive queues, i'm not liking the looks of this standard. so much combo! thank goodness for the casual matchmaking queue

It seems like there are a couple of different decks but they are likely to converge on Companion-based ones.

I'm not playing one though.

Hey, Simic Nexus was still a thing. And arguable the bant field of the dead deck was a "combo" deck itself. It was very degenerate in how it played out. My favorite deck from that time was Orzhov Vampires.

I have been enjoying this new set, haven't been playing too much for a few days but I find it pretty memey and cool. Have not been having issues beating up on the Gyruda decks either.

In other news, my new favorite combo is getting a voracious hydra to over 20 counters and then using ram through to ohko the opponent

I'm considering building a similar deck but with Collosification. The combo feels objectively worse than Fling but it seems so ridiculous.

I am really enjoying this awful Standard format. I am usually a Pioneer player, but thanks to the lockdown I have shifted to Standard. THB was extremely durdly and not really fun. But now we've got some pretty silly cards that cut down the durdle quite nicely. Temur Reclamation with the Sharknado is super good.

Yeah, it really is. I've enjoyed playing mono red but white usually doesn't appeal to me much. RW cycling is so much fun.

Yeah. Even decks I wouldn't want to try to climb the ladder with seem to have the upper-hand on it. I just don't want to be too quick to count it out while the meta is still settling.
