Probably escaped from a lab. Honestly, I think this was an obvious possibility to anyone with half a brain. I mean, we knew there were labs experimenting with coronaviruses. Just sad how many people will believe any narrative pushed by the establishment

Excuse me, but wasn't the contention about whether or not this particular Coronavirus was created in a lab? I don't recall anybody ever denying the possibility that the outbreak could have started in a lab. It hasn't been determined with any certainty where the outbreak began. A reasonable person would withhold judgement in that case, but many many people decided on their TRUTH a long time ago.

My new favorite "news to control the masses" is how they tacked on 3k+ deaths yesterday to covid but none of them were ever tested and won't be tested but we should trust them that it was covid.

No the narrative for the most part has definitely been that the virus had a natural origin. Is that really much different from it having escaped from a lab though? If its origin was within a lab then it was created there whether intentional or not

I'd counter with why are people so determined to think there's no way this came from a lab when there's plenty of reason to believe it may have? It's important to consider the possibility since the origin is important. I think people dont wanna believe world leaders could be so reckless and irresponsible and endanger millions of human lives

I mean, it could have been either way. I wouldnt put 100% faith in lab or natural without proof, though. Since the virus is something that already exist, a new strain isnt far-fetched as that happens all the time, like who the flu. At the same time, it could have been created or modified in a lab, as well. Without concrete evidence, or at least a lot of evidence one way of the other, its hard to say it was definitely one way or the other...

I am impressed with their restraint, at least. Saw conspiracies previously that it was some biological weapon China was working on that was accidentally (or intentionally, in some cases...these people are fucking crazy after all) released.
Now they're at least saying it was a medical facility with substandard safety protocols. That's far more believable, at least. Still seems way more likely it just came from a wild animal at the market, though.

Because it's largely irrelevant to the issue at hand, which is controlling it. When the dust has settled, the exact origin can be traced and appropriate punitive/preventative action taken to avoid having it happen again, but for now, just focus on washing your hands and stop encouraging politicians to point fingers instead of acting on the real crisis. Yes, there's a very real possibility that a lab was studying this virus and it escaped due to lax protocols. But that's always going to be a risk so long as labs are studying viruses (fun fact: most countries have a few microbiology labs with some smallpox in the freezer) and certainly isn't cause to stop studying them altogether.

Coronaviruses are a broad class of virus, characterized by the crown-like projections on their envelopes ("corona" is Latin for "crown"). They're quite common and generally fairly harmless, like most viruses. Somewhere around 15% of everyday colds are believed to be cause by coronaviruses. This particular strain just happens to be very nasty due to what's in that viral genome; the virus class in general is nothing new.

I think it's important for your average Joes to sound the alarm on government corruption because if you're waiting on governments to hold themselves accountable you might be waiting a while. Also there was nothing hostile about what I said. Just pointing out that he doesn't know what hes talking about if he thinks the origin is unimportant because scientists say otherwise

The entire genome has been sequenced, all surface proteins have been identified, the virus' pathology is well-understood, it's too wide-spread at this point for the origin to be of epidemiological significance (unlike the classic example of John Snow's well)... The only thing an origin might provide at this point is an example of an organism that lives with it harmlessly, whose physiology might then provide some sort of inspiration for a cure (though given that turning humans into bats or whatever isn't really a viable treatment option, that's probably a stretch), otherwise, it's far more a matter of people looking for someone to blame than anything genuinely useful. Even if it were genuinely useful, that still doesn't mean laypeople need to concern themselves with it to the point that they encourage politicians to point fingers instead of actually fixing the problem. Let the scientists do their jobs and figure out what needs figuring.

And how do you propose "hacking" the genetic code of that viral vector once it's infected somebody? For that matter, what makes you think that - in 2020 and after five months - the only people who have the virus' full genetic sequence (which seems to be around 30,000 BP, which isn't very long at all) would be the people that made it?
