Maybe not now I guess. A few years back it had like 10-12 coasters plus other rides. They've ditched a few coasters though

Depends on what you like. Flight of Fear is cool coaster because it shoots you off really fast and then the majority of the ride you are in a dark room so you can't even see where you're going next. Dominator is a pretty good steel coaster, and Intimidator 305 is probably their biggest one with the biggest, fastest drop. I remember the last time I road that one, I had tears in my eyes because how fast the wind was hitting my tear ducts. Kings Dominion is also the first park I ever knew to have that Xtreme Skyflier attraction, which is where they strap you to a harness, raise you up super high, and then just drop you and you swing back and forth. I did that as a kid and it was scary as fuck

Looking at their site now and seeing a lot of coasters have been removed from my childhood :(

Six Flags Magic Mountain is the other big contender

A lot of this comes down to preference. There are many other amusement parks to consider too.

Some people prefer airtime and others prefer inversions. Some people like B&M roller coasters and others prefer Intamin. The taller and faster the ride doesn't always equal the best ride experience.

King's Dominion killed the Volcano. I'll never forgive them for that. The Shockwave, meh, it was fun but a rough ride. The Hurler was fun, but I hear the replacement kept the same general track layout but switched to steel, with some inversions to boot, so that sounds cool. As long as they still have the good stuff like Anaconda, Flight of Fear, Intimidator and the Dominator I'll be happy

Yeah I just realized Hurler was gone, and I was sad a year or two ago when I heard Volcano was leaving :(

My last memory with Volcano was not a good one though. We waited in line legit for like 3-4 hours about 5 years ago just waiting to ride it. It wasn't that we wanted to ride it that bad. We thought the wait was going to be about an hour. Then an hour went by and we were about halfway through, and we couldn't figure out why it was taking so long. We thought we were much closer than we were to the end but then more time kept going by and more time kept going by. Before we knew it we had wasted all of that time, and we realized that it was because they kept letting Fast Passers in, which kept clogging the regular line over and over again.

I will never support Fast Pass for this reason. It is kinda killing amusement parks for me

Never been there, but I follow that park as well as the entire amusement park industry very closely. I can name each major amusement park in the country and most or all of each parks coasters.

You can watch POV videos of every single roller coaster and ride in the world pretty much. It is all on YouTube. I've been watching these videos for about 8 years now.

Coaster force is my favorite YouTube channel for roller coaster POV videos.

I'm also really into amusement/theme park vloggers. There are a lot of them who film videos of the parks and do a sort of commentary or review of each one of them. Most of these vloggers are based out of Orlando, but some of them travel the country or even the world.

In the Loop is one of my favorite amusement park channels. There are a few different people who do videos for this channel, but they have videos of damn near every single amusement park in the country.

The Tim Tracker is another great one, but he tends to focus on Orlando theme parks and other theme parks around the country. He also does tons of vlogs for other random stuff. He has been releasing daily vlogs from home during this quarantine stuff on all sorts of things.

I've been to a decent amount of theme parks and amusement parks myself.

I live in MN so I've been to Valleyfair and Nickelodeon Universe up here tons of times.

I've also been to...
Six Flags Great America (Chicago area)
Six Flags Over Texas (Dallas area)
Disneyland
Disney's California Adventure
Knott's Berry Farm

All four Disney World theme parks
The Magic Kingdom
Epcot
Hollywood Studios
Animal Kingdom

Universal Studios Florida
Islands of Adventure
Volcano Bay (Universal studio's water park)
SeaWorld Orlando

I hope to keep going to Orlando once every year or every other year.

I've been hoping to go to Cedar Point and Kings Island on a single trip for years now. Hoping to finally do it in summer of 2021.

I would like to make my way to every single amusement and theme park around the country and maybe even the world someday. I love rides of all types from the extremely thrilling to more family style Disney type rides.

cool, what is your favorite roller coaster?

Kind of hard to say lol. There are just so many that I really like for very different reasons. There are way too many coasters that I haven't ridden before that I'm certain would be the near the top of my list. I can ultimately only comment on what I've personally ridden.

Some of my favorites.

Renegade at Valleyfair- a very twister wooden roller coaster with lots of really great airtime

Hagrids Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Islands of Adventure- a very unique and highly themed roller coaster that has been open for less than a year. Waited over two hours to ride this about a month and a half ago. Easily my favorite Harry Potter ride, but all of the Harry Potter stuff at Universal is pretty amazing.

Mako at SeaWorld Orlando- a B&M hypercoaster. A very hilly ride so lots of airtime.

Expedition Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom- my absolute favorite Disney ride and the most expensive roller coaster ever built. It is an extremely well themed roller coaster built around and inside a giant fake mt. Everest structure.

I really suggest going down the endless path of YouTube amusement and theme park content. I still spend many hours each week watching videos of various rides and roller coasters. There is endless content out there. I have tons of recommendations for cool stuff to check out

Yeah, I think that was my problem with it too, though I didn't have that bad of a wait. The last time I rode it the line took FOREVER. Fast Pass is bullshit, it's just a cash grab by the park owners that ruins the experience for everyone else. Wait in line like the rest of us and things will probably run more smoothly and fairly for everyone.

Fast pass usually doesn't effect a rides line too dramatically. Volcano had really poor capacity in terms of riders per hour so it was disproportionately affected in a negative way. Even if you take away fast passes Volcano still would be among the worst waits in that entire park.

Fast passes can be pretty great to buy when you're at a park you don't often get the opportunity to go to otherwise.

If you don't want to buy a fast pass then you can plan out your a day a bit to avoid waiting in line as much as you can. Basically, hit the rides with the lowest capacity at park opening and hit the high capacity rides during the busier times. There is certainly more to it than that, but that is the general gist of it.

tommy you never get fast pass? i understand why parks do it though

I usually try to plan my day a bit to avoid needing a fast pass.

I have gotten and fast passes before though and it was worth it in my opinion. It allows you to do whatever you want without a need for planning.

If I'm ever at a park I think I won't make it back to for many many years then I very much consider getting a fast pass.

Whenever I do finally go to Cedar Point and Kings Island I will likely get a fast pass for a day at Cedar Point and maybe a day at Kings Island. I'd want to do multiple days at Cedar Point. Plan is to do whatever I can with good planning on the first day and if I still want a lot more ride time then I will likely get a fast pass for the second day.

There are also various promotions that allow you to get a fast pass. I have a season pass to my home park Valleyfair and every year they give season pass members a free fast pass for that year when you renew early for the next year. I always use that fast pass when I go to the Halloween Haunt event when the park is crazy busy and all the big rides have at least an hour long wait. Comes in real handy then.

Universal Studios also gives away fast passes to people who stay at certain on property resorts. Basically, their three nicest and most expensive resorts. It certainly adds value to an expensive hotel stay. I once stayed a single night at one of these hotels just for the fast pass and it was very worth it as it allowed me to do every single ride at both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure many times each in a single day. It otherwise would have taken a few days to get as many rides in as I was able to in a single day with a fast pass.

Funny story though, we got lunch at a stand close by it and saw some people come off the ride with pissed pants. Made me simultaneously want to ride it more and avoid it, haha.

I dunno if the park was actually closed or just all the outdoor rides. It was raining pretty hard too, but I think they were actually closed because of lightning.

It was a family trip. I was just in middle school, so I have no idea if we got refunds or not.

Doesn't matter. Kid coasters are still coasters, so in the argument of which park has the most roller coasters, it's still Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Nope. The park is in Poland, and I have yet to venture outside of the US. Look up some of the roller coasters there. Recent investments include Hyperion, an Intamin hyper coaster, and Zadra, an RMC that is not a conversion (see Joker at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, for example).

My hometown's park is Six Flags St. Louis, which receives no love in the roller coaster department. Last thing we got was a relocated Boomerang in 2013, and prior to that, a GCI clone in 2008.

Its about a 3 hour drive for me. The problem is I try to get people to go but every year, too many people bail at the last minute so we have to cancel. Even getting people for Kings Island is difficult because over half of the people say Cant make it on the day its supposed to happen.

I think most people just dont want to drive or sit in the car for that long.

Cuts down wait time by 90%?

Well that all depends. Typically a fast pass will bring you to the station. That could be a few cycles of the ride. Could be a 10 minute wait on a high end estimate. If you only wait five minutes and the line is 50 minutes. That reduces the wait 90%.

I mean, really I'd say you should consider fast pass if there are a few hour long lines you could be facing. Definitely a preference in terms of how I value the price of a fast pass. Skipping lines like that significantly increases your ride time.

So it needs to be pretty busy to justify paying for it.

you ever been on the new drop tower one at busch?

Haven't been to busch gardens in years. I grew up in tampa bay, but I moved to Orlando in 2011 and out of state in 2016.
