Attempted to build around DOOM Eternal's recommended settings: https://slayersclub.bethesda.net/en/article/5Wx9QeorMSfMZCwLg6VpoS/doom-eternal-launch-details

I'm definitely not up to speed on the latest CPU and GPU capabilities. Any suggestions for optimizing this build while staying within $1,500 USD?

I'm gearing up for a new pc build myself. So far I just bought a 3700x though.

As far as processors go the 2700x is the last gen ryzen. I don't know why its so expensive there since I got mine for under 300.
The general consensus seems to be that the Ryzen 3600 is the best price per performance value and it might be worth going back to the 2700x since it has 2 extra cores for work based performance.
I've seen the 3600 and 2700x for around 180 dollars or less.

Your Gpu would be good for 1080p gaming. If you wanted to go at 1440p or highter you would need something stronger and of course a corresponding monitor.

If you have a microcenter around though just order everything from there. They usually have the best sales and a discount on cpu/mb combos.

Man, it's times like these I'm really glad my computer I made in fall of 2014 can still play new shit on low/medium settings. Never wanna upgrade/build again!

This is actually a build for a friend; my computer I built in 2015 still gets the job done. I may want to upgrade my CPU (i5-4560K) sometime soon.

my opinion is that you should get the regular 2700 instead of the x.

iirc, the x is just factory overclocked and it doesn't come with a cooler, if that matters for you

you also don't REALLY need a key for windows 10. it's technically free, you just can't change the taskbar settings and will have a faint watermark in the corner, but it's also easy to just kms activate it and go about your day

Why spend that much on a computer monitor? You can get a bigger cheaper tv with an HDMI port for half the price.
