In their effort to make Kait the main character (which is fine) theyre doing their damndest to make JD look like the bad guy (which is not fine)

The problem is, I still think JD did nothing wrong even as the rest of the main cast is going WOW WHAT AN ASSHOLE YOU ARE FOR SOMETHING THAT SOUNDED COMPLETELY JUSTIFIED MAN

Also, Hammer of Dawn bad turns into Hammer of Dawn good in the span of two Acts lol

Kait isnt very likable either. Del is a snake lol. I cant wait to sacrifice him towards the end

At least the co-op is still pretty good

Not a Gears fan, but everything I've seen about the series and everything I've heard from my friend who is a Gears fan indicates that this game is head and shoulders above 4. It might not capture the spark that made 1, 2 and 3 so beloved, but 5 looks like a better direction for the series to go in than 4 - to the point that I think 5 is in itself a bit of a series reboot, exclusively to wash the bad taste of 4 out of people's mouths.

But then again, that's an outsider's opinion looking in with some corroboration from someone who's more invested in the series. I don't know entirely what I'm talking about.

I thought 5 was incredible. Loved the first 3, 4 was simply alright. Only sucky thing about 5 was the choice at the end because how the fuck will 6 play out now

I guess the point is that the hammer of dawn is a necessary evil. If the humans didnt spend so much time killing each other before E day then they might not have needed the hammer.

I played through Gears 4 and 5 co-op with a friend recently-ish and honestly barely remember the stories.

The first one is still the best IMO. Probably put hundreds of hours into it back in high school.

Don't get me wrong, this game is definitely better than 4. People bitch about the MTX but it's done better than Gears 4 and their loot boxes influencing everything in the multiplayer.

I just wish the campaign story wasn't so dumb lol

Except I'm sure Anya would think differently if she knew about the new Swarm threat, just like Marcus

Didn't stop her from trying to get Kait to control the Swarm though

Gears 3 is still the peak of the series for me, everything in that game was gloriously done, although Gears 5 is probably second
