I appreciate their optimism but let's be real here, no big events like that are happening anytime soon. The first ones are in June and those are a definite no-go. Even if we reopen by then huge gatherings still won't be allowed. A couple in July are probably also going in the not happening file. Then they have one in August, that MAY be able to go on but I wouldn't bet on it.

My question is why are these musicians even booking shows in the foreseeable future? You think they would just take a break.

My biggest fear is if my favorite concert of the year (and just favorite weekend of the year period), which got rescheduled to October, won't be able to happen

I wouldn't want to work the concerts in the first place because I have to keep the men's bathroom up and cross paths with several hundred guys during the show. That's just daring COVID to get you.

Youre asking why would people who make their livelihoods doing X would want to book X?

Moneys bad enough in the good times. Youre talking about some people who DEFINITELY don't have benefits of any kind, including unemployment. Hell, guitar legend Dick Dale gigged up til the day he died at age 81 to afford medical care.

Theres a very good reason every Joe Nobody with a guitar isnt living that life.

Do these musicians have no clue what's going on in the world right now? Everybody knows events are getting cancelled left and right. They have to at least have it in the back of their head there's a strong chance they scheduled a show that won't be allowed to go on.

They probably do.

But what do they actually lose by scheduling and then not being allowed to play? Nobody's gonna blame the musician because the venue told them no. And they won't have to shell out any kind of funds until they're actually setting up for the show. There's no real loss for them.

Most musicians dont get paid from releasing music. They get paid from performing the music on tour.
