I agree with Leon - it's really the degree more than anything, and rallying can often enhance a match. I'm firmly on the MMX fan train, but I loved that Tifa match, and the nature of the rallying only made things funner. Now if Tifa had grown those rallies to beat Link, it would have brought a quick end to the fun for me.

If the Knights swapped places, I do think Shovel Knight would have buried ol' Noctis here.

I think Shovel Knight is neck-and-neck with Cuphead for the title of "strongest indie' - though I do think Hollow Knight is a not-so-distant third.

I apologise for my bad paragraph structure in that last message! Though rally-wise Tifa/MMX was fun because it was a battle of two roughly equal rallies, like Undertale/Melee on a much smaller scale.

Hollow knight is one of the top 3 metroidvanias of the last decade, maybe top 5 ever.

yeah indirectly. Directly both games are getting walloped. Mario more so. Smash might be able to get 37-38% due to its variety and popualrity.

mario might be able to beat smash 1v1. But it would get absolutely Sffd to the ground by BOTW.

i agree which is why i said only these two.

ff7 is up in the air. That game barely hit 40% on oot last contest. RBY isnt as strong as ff7

lttp can barely beat MM. It has no shot at BOTW

We see LoZ:LBW still looking like a game with legitimate strength too, so...barring abnormal contest draws, I think LoZ:SS would have been fine.

Wasn't there are a two games per franchise rule? I assume that's why games like Mario 3D World and Skyward Sword aren't here.

Ah, well that explains it. Link Between Worlds makes more sense as the second Zelda game since it's 2D and thus more "unique."

Shame about the 2 per franchise rule though, since now that I think about it Mario Maker 2 could have likely put in some work.

We need another games contest. Hopefully one that isn't overrun by rallies again. I'd say a 90's game contest but we need to see BotW in action. And we'd actually have a non-obvious winner!

FF10 and SSBM have largely been evenly matched during their entire lifetime. Using registered voters results from SSBM vs CT puts SSBM at roughly even with FF10 which is the expected results for non-SFF'd FF10 vs non-rallied SSBM.

I'm still not convinced that what happened to CT is not the 2015 equivalent of what happened to Mewtwo and to a lesser degree Snake in 2013. The contest went off rails when Undertale scored the win against ME3 very early on and we all got Draven PTSD so I take a lot of the later polls with a huge grain of salt.

The FFIX and FFX polls are weird, but there's also the bonus poll where CT did 61% on FFVI while OoT did 59% on FFVII and I don't see FFVII falling to the point of almost losing to FFVI. Of course, I don't trust any of these polls at all, since there are all clearly affected by rallies and outside traffic and taking all these results on face value results in a lot of contradictions.
