Trump is the worst president in American history, and at this point if you still support him, you're an irrdeemable ignorant moron and a shit stain excuse for a human being.
Trump has made literally thousands of actions and statements that would have ensured that anyone in any other educated, professional setting get fired. You have a president that is fucking over his greatest allies and propping up the most heinous, evil dictators on the planet in a time where tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of his own people are going to die. Trump absolutely should be held responsible. He knew about this since January (or earlier) and called it a hoax instead of doing anything to prepare or mitigate it.

Remember like 5 days ago when Trump said that if the death count from this was under 100,000 (already a high number compared to if he had acted quickly and decisively) in the U.S., then he did a good job?
He sure hopes you don't! papercup posted... Trump absolutely should be held responsible. Anyone figure out the point icoyar was trying to make with his picture?"B...b.....but....Both sides!" is my guess, by quoting a bunch of random headlines from various news outlets, since according to Republicans, all news is left-wing? Even though most of those sites weren't the most reputable, some were right-wing, some headlines were technically accurate (like the one about "doing the same thing you do every winter" -- basic hygiene is the most important tool to fight the spread aside from social distancing), or how many of those headlines were from opinion pieces. Even left-leaning news sites like Washington Post allow some of the nuttiest extreme right wing people to post opinion pieces. Or how taking a headline on its own completely out of context of the article it's attached to can be misleading. In other words... whataboutism. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Oh, in the disease's early stages, comparing it to the flu was pretty reasonable. Many people did so then, including myself. That was less in the "it's not a big deal stop worrying" sense, though, and more in the "you're currently at more danger from the flu so go get a flu shot if you're really concerned about your safety" in an effort to assuage fears among laypeople (fears which were manifesting as racism and xenophobia in many cases). Anyone who knew what they were talking about always knew it was going to be a significant deal for public health agencies, as is the case with all emergent epidemics (and the fact that public health agencies make a big deal out of it is why most emergent epidemics don't turn into anything that laypeople have to worry significantly about).
The problem with how Trump has handled it is not simply that he compared it to the flu or said it was nothing most people needed to worry too much about. It's that he continued saying such things well after the WHO was saying it was actually a big deal that warranted a serious response from the public, undermining their advice in ways that are still resonating (see: Duckbear's headline from last week that 9 of the 10 states with the fastest-growing case numbers voted Trump in 2016) and slowing the response from the public during the critical early stages of the pandemic. He's been two steps behind since the outbreak started, and there's no excuse for that. --- This is my signature. It exists to keep people from skipping the last line of my posts. ...
