There's a reason why Trump is speaking Mon-Fri after 3PM and saying the wildest stuff on Saturday and Sunday it's because there's a direct correlation between the stock market diving when he opens his mouth. His team saw that and is delaying all of his TV appearances for this reason.

Honestly, I rather covid-19 if it means living like this for too long. I spent an hour on a long line outside of my local supermarket in the cold rain because only 5 people were allowed inside at a time. Then when I got in, there was barely anything left. I expect a huge decline in mental health especially for those not working.

It can't be allowed because the hospitalization and mortality rate is so high that it overwhelms the health care system and of course that will have a huge affect on those without coronavirus as well who need treatment. You'll have dead bodies piling in the streets and things will get even worse, much worse.

Which is understandable. I'm just saying living like this isn't easy. I actually work in healthcare, so I still go to work every day while most people are home. The least supermarkets can do is let us healthcare workers cut the line. It's not right to work all day and then have to wait on a long line like that. Especially when my work days are so much harder now.

Yeah that's brutal. I guess we all just have to tough it out for the greater good. Working from home every day under these conditions is fucking depressing too tbh I'd rather just go into work.

So - a lot of new information has come in since then.

The quarantine rules that were said to be enforced and mandatory 2 weeks ago, really, people did not get on board until late this week.

We also repatriated a shit load of infected people the last 2 weeks.

So now we're back to where we should have been 2 weeks ago, today. So it'll be another two weeks before things start getting better. Canada hasn't been hit as hard as the States and I believe will end up being a model of recovery like South Korea.
Will it though?
As late as last week people in Vancouver were still sunbathing on the beach, and they literally had to pass a law to fine people aren't taking this seriously.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/vancouver-council-covid-fines-1.5506828

And you just had a major supermarket in the Toronto area that was closed because an employee was confirmed to have the virus, and when they opened up, it was closed right away when a second employee was confirmed to be infected.

Once multiple grocery stores are closed due to employees being infected, between the closure, the disposed perishable food, etc, you can bet any Canadian "manners" will go out the window.

2 weeks is pretty optimistic. If the police strictly enforce isolation rules across the country, then maybe (out of pure physics), but you know they will be reluctant with all the Charter Rights arguments that will result. Draconian isolation rules don't do well in countries used to freedom.

This so much. The human mind isnt built for this which is why I'm so scared. I get so discouraged when people say we will be locked up for like a year. We already live in an era with many people being depressed, this isnt gonna help at all.

The threat won't be over April 30.

Nothing Trump has or ever will say has the least importance.

The virus hasn't peaked yet, and the number of cases (and the deaths that come with those) is still growing exponentially. The rate of growth at least seems to be going down, but it does that now and then only to pick back up with a vengeance. Until it stays steady in the negative the threat isn't over. And that depends on how well people follow the guidelines against its spread.

The threat could be over after a month, sure. The problem is that when you're exposed you don't know it until after a few days, and in the meantime you're spreading it yourself, unknowingly to more people who are also unaware. That's what's going on right now. There's a lot of people out there who have the virus, are spreading the virus, and they don't even know. This is why we can't get cocky with this thing. Corona virus demands your respect.

In Las Vegas, local news yesterday started with the story of a man murdering his two sons, then killing himself. So yeah, murders as well as suicides. I keep seeing stories that domestic violence will increase with the quarantines, and there was an example in my area.

There really is no middle ground, and its very tough to say to people: Hey, keep going to restaurants, go buy new houses, ignore that pile of bodies over in the corner. Its very hard to tell people when theres an epidemic spreading that they should go about things, knowing that their activity is spreading this disease.

There are bodies piling up in Italy. That's the reason they're taking all of these measures for covid-19. If you overwhelm the health care system you'll see mass deaths that society isn't prepared for.
