Actually the flour is more of a hazard than the eggs. Eggs has a extremely strict set of regs for production, cleaning and marketing. Flour is more or less only worry some in the manufacturing about explosions. Is the flour contaminated with rat feces, salmonella, mold, and other contaminants as long as its below a certain threshold its ok. The bad thing about living contaminants is that while in dry form its in stasis in the wet form it grows and reproduces

The recommendations against eating raw flour come after a series of flour recalls a couple years back due to E. coli contamination. Since that contamination is hard to avoid and it all gets killed off when baking anyway, they just recommend not eating raw flour, which pretty much just means not eating dough. If you really want to, you can pasteurize your flour to make it safer, since flour doesn't really "cook" like it does in doughs unless you have water in there, so holding it between 60-80C for a while won't significantly hurt your product (you'll probably need a bit of extra moisture, though).
Alternatively, just live dangerously and eat your dough. The risk is there, but generally fairly small for any bag that hasn't been recalled. --- This is my signature. It exists to keep people from skipping the last line of my posts. ... Copied to Clipboard!
