Dailymail has received new footage that shows 2 Tennessee Brothers DONATING their 17,700 boxes of hand sanitizers after the government SEIZED their bottles that they tried to sell online but FAILED to after an investigation of PRICE GOUGING was going on!!

Matt and Noah Colvin from Hixson said they bought the bottles of hand sanitizer and sold them as much as 70 each amid the coronavirus outbreak and said they had "nothing to hide"

The attorney general stepped in after they spent 15,000 on stocking up hand sanitizers and other items which are now in demand because of the pandemic

They put them up on Amazon and priced it for 70 a piece before Amazon pulled the plug

Samantha Fisher, director of communications for the AG said "I just want to make clear that donating the sanitizers does not meant hey are off the hook legally. If evidence established they engaged in price gouging, we will seek appropriate penalties"

The brothers drove 1300 miles across the state to Kentucky to seek a lucrative business opportunity after filing a U-Haul truck with thousands of bottles and packs that they "cleaned out" at Dollar Tree, Walmart, Staples and Home Depot

They spent a massive 15,000 hoping to make a killing which are now in demand..but now they are down the DRAIN!!

Matt said it was "crazy money" and couldn't pass up on the opportunity and bought the products at reasonably low price as a bottle of Purell hand sanitizer would sell for $1 and would charge it for $20!!

He defended himself stating on price gouging and that the cost of delivery to customers eat into profits and that the anti-price gouging laws in Tennessee are not suitable in the digital age and meant for Billy Bob's gas station doubling the amount during the hurricane

He said "Just because it cost me $2 in the store doesn't mean it's not going to cost me $16 to bring to your door"

When asked if he felt bad he said there was crushing overwhelming demand for it and he was just selling it to the person who wanted it the MOST!!.

He seems himself as doing a "public service" and doing what America gave him the opportunity to do

Now they are out all the money and all of the bottles are now being donated after Amazon gave them the boot at a time when store shelves are empty

They deleted all their social media because of the THREATS as he also has some support from people who said "Thanks for outing this guy and hurray for public pressure. F*** the NYT for destroying this man's life"

Others were blasting the men as not being sincere for "donating" it as they doubt that and noted them as Conmen and snake oil salesmen and even compared them to Martin Shkreli who hiked up prices on Daraprim, a life saving drug for HIV patients

Price gouging laws aren't anything new. I don't really understand how stupid people doing this are.

My dad was a cop and when a hurricane came he had no problem buying some tapcons for a jacked price from a dude with a few extra, but this isn't that situation. These guys broke a law that every state I've lived in has, while it is true it's not a federal law and not every state has it... it still surprises me of the ignorance people have.

Also good on Amazon for shutting these kinds of shits down, not often I can say good things about the company.

If existing laws somehow don't apply -- which I'm sure there's something that does -- clearly new laws need to be established to prevent disaster-profiteering through organized arbitrage. Given that their activities enabled the spread of disease, there should be something in place that would force them to face criminal charges for their misconduct.

And douchebaggery like this is why I'll never 100% be in the libertarian camp.
