if not more? And now the Vice President is making a public announcement with the task force.

Meanwhile British government has been silent since Thursday. All we have is two separate interviews with the health secretary, 15 mins each, talking about how they may introduce steps in the coming weeks.

am I missing something here? I thought we were in the middle of a pandemic that needs urgent and aggressive action lol. Wouldnt know by taking a look at this government

If they kill off enough old people, then austerity is working.

And if enough people get sick, the hospitals will collapse, then they will have the excuse they need to privatize the NHS like they've been aching to do.

You're missing that it's a fucking cold so we may as well let it spread so we can build an immunity.

If they kill off enough old people then the load on the NHS will be reduced and they can fuck off trying to destroy it.

I dont understand how anybody can just be happy to let this spread. Yeah itll spread, but in the process kill off anybody over 60 or 70 with diabetes, high blood pressure, compromised immunity, or any other condition. Literally that should be what were trying to stop in the first place...

Some people are not able to handle crisis with grace and leadership. Anyone can talk big, but when everything starts falling apart and everyone's looking at you for guidance, most people fail. It used to be a requirement for top government positions, but nowadays anything goes. Trump does well to let others handle things, but his image as the commander in chief is still important to calm people and offer guidance. If he can manage to act like a normal, rational human being for once...

The UK is handling this like all European countries. Everyone knows the deal by now, yet everyone has been several steps behind. Contingency plans were made days after the first official cases, state of emergency was called after hundreds of cases and countless transmission chains, boarders were called off after millions of inbound and outbound flights, etc. Feels like every european government was waiting for the things to get really bad before doing what they knew they would have to do eventually. It was just a matter of letting enough people get infected during that time.

I know its a meme to say politicians are clueless, but this time, they were completely oblivious to what was happening right under their noses. A month ago many ministers and european officials were still saying that the virus might not even reach their countries, even after WHO declared this a world level public health crisis. Go figure...

people really don't know what pneumonia is, and it's very shocking.

for those that don't know, it's a lung infection that makes your lungs air sacs fill up with fluid, essentially making you drown yourself because you can't fucking breathe.

cold and sinus medication doesn't do shit to that.

i had pneumonia once when i was like 11, and near died from it.

Oh no, it'll kill off people who are no longer productive and didn't look after their health, that's so sad. I love paying higher and higher taxes to keep them from dying /s

It's going to happen either way, it's past containment. I propose we allow euthanasia for those who's chances aren't great and tell all the young and otherwise healthy people to either take a break or get back to work.

It's like it wasn't a big fuss either. It was just a nice story to latch on to because it gave MPs excuse to misbehave.

I'd care if we had a system where these people contributed more to account for their above-average demand.

@Kyuubi4269 are you seriously suggesting that people with diabetes should just die because theyre a perpetual drain on resources? Because that is the shittiest thing Ive heard anyone say this month by far.

please elaborate on what you mean by a system where these people contributed more to account for their above-average demand. Should people with health issues have to work more than people without? Like its actually mind blowing that these are actual thoughts youre having. Seriously some evil shit. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Yup. People with kids have to work more than people who don't, other people don't pay for their needs just because their needs are higher. It's not "fair" that they have more problems, but it's also not fair for people to pay for problems they don't have.

Note that I'm not saying to go full American and just bankrupt people for having the sniffles, but I'm very much for Japan's system that mostly subsides healthcare, to a greater degree for the less well off and doesn't charge for emergency care.

We have overcrowding from people using the NHS for everything just because it's free.
