To be fair, I do feel like Skyrim might be weaker this contest than it was in 2015, but they both had a common opponent that contest and Skyrim did almost 20% better - and the gap would have probably been even wider if you factor out tumblr spillover! Skyrim was a beast in 2015, and while it won't be as much now, it would take nothing short of divine intervention for it to lose THIS early. Like, going from ~40% on Mario 64 to losing to Mario Kart 8 in five years would be catastrophic, and this is a game that has been re-released to hell since. Yeah Bethesda's reputation is in the mud, but that shouldn't be enough to make this winnable for MK8. And no, MK8 Deluxe isn't going to help enough either.
