Hey guys, so currently playing Fire Emblem: Three Houses and will probably be on that for at least another week

On anime watch with my fiance, Me and Ash just finished the Dressrosa arc of One Piece so we're good on anime for a little bit, but thinking Yu Yu Hakusho is next for anime

On my immediate to do list for JRPGs is Octopath Traveler, maybe trying out the switch pokemon dungeon game (I never played these despite loving Pokemon), and then at the end of the month/early april I have the wombo combo of Persona 5: Royal, FF7R, and Trials of Mana.

If I am going to make it to November without losing my mind I think I am going to need a few more RPGs and probably a few more anime to get Ash into. I am thinking Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood after YYH.

JRPGs: Trails series would have you covered for the year if you get into it. Ys VIII if you want something less time-consuming/ambitious.

Anime: Hunter x Hunter 2011 is an incredible long-runner (same creator as YYH). FMA: Brotherhood is solid too of course. Steins;Gate if you want a cool sci-fi drama thing. Kaguya: Love is War if you want a rom-com. Black Lagoon if you want something more gritty. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex if you want cyberpunk. Dr. Stone if you want to see the closest thing to anime does Bill Nye.

Trails in the Sky FC - PC/PSP (or Vita BC)
Trails in the Sky SC - PC/PSP (or Vita BC)
Trails in the Sky the 3rd - PC

Zero no Kiseki/Trails of Zero (fan translation) - PC
Ao no Kiseki/Trails of Azure - localizers save us

Trails of Cold Steel - PS3/PS4/Vita/PC
Trails of Cold Steel II - PS3/PS4/Vita/PC
Trails of Cold Steel III - PS4/PC/Switch

Basically PC can play the whole series but the only official release where it's the only option is Trails in the Sky the 3rd. And the fan translation of Zero if that's a thing you're interested in.

The best way to play Trails is the first two chapters of the sky and steel series on Vita, and then Cold Steel 3 on PS4

That's how true gamers play it

kudos for almost making it through dressrosa. so close to the animation getting decent again

I don't know what type of anime you are looking for, but I think The Promised Neverland is very good and also has relatively broad appeal.

I'm also a huge fan of the Trails series, if you're into that type of long, story/dialogue-heavy experience

Yeah*, you can do this. You'll miss some references to the earlier games but you'll be able to follow things.

*Cold Steel 3 you may be pushing it, some have likened it to the "Infinity War" of Trails and it basically starts pulling in a lot from the earlier games.

But 1 and 2 and seeing where you stand on the series? Sure. If you fall in love with it there's a good chance you'll feel motivated to go back to the Sky trilogy. And if you don't like it well then nothing lost.

I haven't played the Switch version of Rescue team, just the gba version (and I've also went back to and am probably nearing the end of PSMD).

But I guess it kind of depends on how you feel about roguelikes and Polkamen in general. Also how much you'd get out of depends on how much of the postgame you'd be interested in doing. Story is probably 10-15 hours long and the difficulty is relatively low (other than occasionally getting stuck in bad type matchups in dungeons and boss fights depending on your starter/partner) and you can just outlevel stuff, and then you get into postgame where you can try to recruit as many pokeymans as possible and harder dungeons open up that require more strategy to beat (like 99 floor ones that you can't take items into and reset your level each time you enter for a more traditional roguelike experience).

in general I think the general opinions on the series would be more like

Rescue team - more basic/simpler and kind of like a proof of concept
Explorers - the fan favorite and has the most focus on story
Gate to Infinity - a pretty rough transition to 3d graphics that cuts out a lot of packeymin
Super - some fans are divided over some mechanical changes and such, but is generally considered a return to form
Rescue Team DX - don't think there's much of a consensus yet since you have some quality of life improvements but also moveset and mechanical changes from the original some of which make the story part of the game easier so you get fans that complain that things are different. other fans wish that they could have done more with the remake (like adding in more post gen 3 pickymun) and changed more. (and of course professional reviewers don't really "get" the series anyway)

Will also put in for Hunter x Hunter. The idea that the later half of that series is bad is hilarious, it's undoubtably one of the greatest shounen series ever created. It's from the same creator as Yu Yu Hakusho, and is superior.

I have only played the Cold Steel games For Trails, but they have all be excellent.

If you are interested in VN recommendations, I just finished Umineko and it is a masterpiece. I can say that for The House in Fata Morgana as well.
