No, not letting anyone show dominance at a meaningful level is the reason why.

Like, far be it for me to ever defend anything WWE does but "booking someone new who has star power to look strong" is not really something they should be raked over the coals for considering they usually have to be dragged into that kicking and screaming.

I think it's more fair to say that Charlotte and Ronda burying an entire division, and to a lesser extent Alexa, is why nobody has been able to show any sort of dominance at a meaningful level. Like, what's even the point to ever care about any of these women if they can't even show off during an Elimination Chamber? You can't convince me the best move to make Shayna look dominant is by having her bury everyone in an Elimination Chamber.

They let fucking Lince Dorado of all people look like a freaking all star in his elimination chamber. They made everyone in the Women's chamber look like shit except for Shayna. The fact that nobody cares about the Riott Squad or Natalya is an indictment of just how shitty that entire division has been treated in the first place. Nobody is competitive, and the one match they could actually at least look a little bit competitive in, they have Shayna kill them each in two moves.

Why should anyone ever care about a single one of them ever again? Why should they even be allowed on TV again?

Nah, this was the exact right thing to do. You want her to look like a badass, dominant, big time deal, then you have her dominate what you push as one of your most badass, big time deal matches.

WWE's issue is that they never pull the trigger and let anyone get over because they're too obsessed with 50-50 booking and protecting everybody. Not everybody needs to look like a star because then nobody does.

For once, they did what they needed to do to put somebody over big, and it was mostly over people like the Riot Squad and Natalya who are mainly around to make others look better.

Good booking, which is one hell of a rarity in WWE.

WWE has a problem about keeping 2-3 stars per division actually strong and making THEM unbeatable, so that an actual feud with actual fan investment happens.

They have Charlotte (by force), Becky (by dumb luck), and hopefully now Shayna. They fed Asuka to Charlotte and Becky, so she is dead. The least you can do is make sure Shayna is the one.

There is a shelf life on acts, whether you bury them, 50-50, or book them like a badass (to the point of boredom). They waited JUST long enough to get Becky a long ass credible reign before fans just go "Next toy". That or Vince overcomplicates things when there's a "right time" to go with something.

I'm annoyed that WWE can't do this "star" thing more often, hence why I said fuck it.

Final point: maybe if Vince gets enough MMA inspired wrestlers, he won't need to poach current "celebrity" fighters so much.

Goldberg pinned Jericho, Michaels and Orton within a 3-4 minute spell during the 03 Chamber. Those guys ended up doing pretty well

It's absolutely fine. Wrestlers don't stagnate. Even in kayfabe, they don't. They figure things out, go on "hot streaks" (aka a push). The guys who lost tonight can be repushed, repackaged at any time. And maybe when Baszler isn't such a big deal and being so pushed, maybe one or two of them can get their win back

The biggest issue IMO was how it was paced.

Liv should have come out 4th and they may as well have had whatever Riott Squad dream spots theyve always wanted to do happen

Then Shayna 5th so that it takes most of the period to kill 4 other people so theres only 1 extended beat of anticipation for Shayna vs Asuka instead of 2

Having 2 dead periods hurt the match IMO

Further addition to the Women's chamber discussion...

It was booked fine as Baszler mowed down 3 severe undercarders plus Nattie (whose been on-again, off-again in terms of booking for the last 12 years) and Asuka (who, as stated earlier has been fed to Charlotte and Becky but is still probably 4th in WWE's female hierarchy, if one existed). The Riott Squad has never been relevant on the main roster; Ruby's decent, Logan's a Main Event regular, and Liv's fresh off a hilariously bad short feud with Lana.

Besides, it wasn't too long ago that they fed 5 guys to Strowman in a chamber only to have him winning a tag title with a 10 year old kid a month later. They did something right yesterday with Baszler.

Oh, I forgot that they did that in 2018 and started the match with 3 entrants. Honestly, that probably says a lot about how unmemorable that match truly was if the only things I can recall are Strowman eliminating everyone but Roman and Roman winning in the end.
