Board 8 > Pokemon morality question about using imported pokemon

My previous topic title didn't really convey what I was going for

What I want to know is, how often, if ever, you use imported Pokemon in your first play through of the game? During my run and SoulSilver and my current run in Leaf Green I just wanted to use Pokemon I could catch. But then I realize this is somewhat self-imposed, it's advertised that you can trade Pokemon whenever you want.

If I wanted to I could have had 3 Totodiles from other people and it's fair game. But I don't know, it just felt somewhat wrong to do that.

I just want to know how often this comes up for other people.

Bonus question, how often do you implement legendary Pokemon into your team in your play through?

I never use legendaries in-game, the games are already too easy. I usually just box 'em.

I almost never traded personally but I wouldn't say it's wrong to do it that way. Pokemon is a game you can play however you want. I agree with the above that legendaries make it too easy, but live and let live I say.

The only time I ever did that was when I traded in the starters I never used before into Ultra Moon. It was basically just Moon again so I didn't care too much, plus I used a rotation so I didn't have them all on the team at once.

I traded myself a Durant egg at the beginning of White 2 because fuck waiting until almost the end to catch one again. Also a Minccino egg just because I guess.

First playthrough I usually just limit myself to regional Pokemon only. Kanto Pokemon for Kanto games only, Alola for Alola games, etc.

Other playthroughs anything is fair game for me

I've never used imported pokemon in my first run, but that's just how I did it. Play however you want.

Yeah, I don't start trading in stuff to use before clearing the campaign. Wonder Trade is kind of fun for that. And I'll totally use legendaries I catch against the Elite 4 and Champion.

Ive played through Silver and Omega Ruby with all three starters, but that made the games to easy IMO.

I've only used imported pokemon in a main run once, for Pokemon Silver, when I picked Cyndaquil but also got a friend to trade me a Totodile. After that, my friends weren't really into Pokemon so I didn't have anyone to trade with (and, after that, I never got into online).

As for legendaries, I usually don't use them, because I've already gotten attached to my team by then.

I don't trade because usually there are more than 6 Pokemon I want to use readily available anyway so I don't really think about it

On a first run I usually don't, unless I really want to use something that's super late game.

Subsequent runs are almost always imported Pokemon that I bred myself in the prior run then moved into Bank/Home. Right now I'm working on a team to replay Sword.
