That game was so ripe for exploitation it was throbbing, and yet they kept the extra monetization to very reasonable levels (limited entirely to a pretty decent DLC pack, from what I understand). As much as the game probably would have been better without the mechanic, it really wasn't that bad to grind out all the rare blades in the late game, and prior to that it forces the player to work with what they find instead of being able to build the most powerful combos immediately. Now, the affinity mechanic? That should never have made it into the game. Spending hours mashing A to feed items to blades was not fun (although I believe they added some better affinity items in post-release patches after I finished with the game, which might have made it better). I'm fine with having some sort of affinity mechanic that demands some grinding, but the way it was executed was just boring and had nothing to do with the rest of the gameplay. --- This is my signature. Xenoblade on Wii and 2 on Wii U are both untouched/played at all, and Persona 5 for my ps4 had not even been loaded on the system. I was just about to try it a month ago or so, but got distracted by other games. It's still on my list, but i'm doubting it'll get played at this point. I plan on getting a switch eventually, and playinn the Witcher games on my PC/Switch, I still need to go back and finish KH 3, I never even started FFXV, and I have the new Dragon Warrior game on Steam which after watching your story I really want to play (not tomention DW Builders and then maybe builders 2). I just got Fallen order as well, and in a few months, hopefully, Phantasy Star online 2 will come out and probably monopollze most of my time. That isn't even touching future games of which there are quite a few, Marvel ultimate alliance 3, Diablo 4, Balders Gate 3, Cyberpunk etc. So yeah, I ain't gonna ever get to my backlist I don't think.
