Like, consistently making bad decisions about how to spend your time and then realising that you're completely locked out of something significant?

I'm still fairly early in the game I think it's late May/early July. I've cleared the dungeon, but Kanji hasn't woken up yet and suffering from severe analysis paralysis. Between S-Links, raising stats, getting jobs for money (and also stats and maybe even S-Links I think), it already feels like I'm falling behind on things I should be doing, even when I'm making decent progress on the things I am doing.

So, basically, I'm either looking for reassurance that anything I do is fine and I'm not going to get stuck, or advice on what I should be focusing on.

Even on hard mode, the game is beatable after making plenty of "mistakes". You're not supposed to be able to 100% the game on a first playthrough.

Edit for clarity: you're going to miss cool things, particularly s-links. It'll be very unlikely that you see every character interaction and rank each one up to max.

This would vary depending on your definition of "something significant."

What I would say is that as long as you make sure to complete Marie's Social Link (you have until late December) you're good in terms of the most significant stuff. Other than that I would not personally worry really.

Yep, you're certain to miss out on social links (unless you use a guide), but none of them except the aforementioned Marie link are anything more than extra characterization and scenes. As far as actual game content goes, the ending splits are the only way to miss things and those are discrete and singular branching points that you won't miss.

If you want to do all the social links, your options are to use a guide or to grind up your social stats on a first playthrough and carry them over to NG+ to do all the links there. But, again, you're not missing huge amounts of content by missing out on them.
