I went to my supervisor and he went, Its a f***ing dog, just drop it.

When I first read about Soleimani, I was like No way, they couldnt be this stupid. I got angry.
Nothing has changed, they didnt listen.

Mr Bryant is also calling out to people who are working in drone squadrons around the world to think about what theyre being asked to do.
We think about the Nuremberg Trials, he says, referring to the court cases against Nazis after the Second World War.
All these guys that got convicted during the trials, the one thing that convicted them all was, Well I was just doing my job.
We have not learned the lessons of the past. Were still doing things not like the Nazis, but worse than the Nazis, because we should know better.

Sleep disruption was such a problem in drone squadrons when Mr Bryant served that operators could ask to be given go pills and no-go pills powerful drugs to either wake you up or put you to sleep.
And the pills could have strange consequences Mr Bryant says he and a friend once loudly heard a fellow drone operator having a furious argument with someone on the phone in his bedroom.
They were concerned because they knew hed taken no-go pills and might not be completely in control, so they went to check on him.
But when we go in there, Mr Bryant says, He was arguing with his pants. He was yelling at them.

So we are drugging the fuck out of these guys then telling them to kill people on the other side of the world.

Then one of the sergeants walks down the middle aisle and says: Your job is to kill people and break things.
He tried to make it sound cool.

I met a dude a while back that got discharged after his first and only drone strike (which killed an innocent family) fucked up his head so badly. It was the first time the dude went out in two years. He said he's getting less benefits than my other friend who left after a minor leg injury. Shit is fucked up.

So to sum up our military is a bunch of drug addicted violence craving psychos who once we're done with them throw out on the streets to criminalize and blame them for being "Weak" for ending up that way.

This is how it's done in the US. You get to kill an entire family of people, but then we're all supposed to pity the guy because now he has PTSD and "regrets it".

Even though he had Vietnam, Iraq, Yemen, and no end of other examples to learn from. An entire family of human beings had to die for it to happen though, and that's okay to many Americans. That is the very essence of racism imo, that a person like this is so often excused or pitied. Not saying you did that, but these ridiculous sob stories or "he has seen too much" type remarks are very common, when in all truth, they're all talking about cowardly, criminal, scum.

This guy was one of the first people to blow the whistle on drone strikes. There wasnt a lot of info about it before then. This happened about a decade ago, if not longer.

Also you have to keep in mind the type of young men the military recruit and the culture they surround them in. In order to affect real change we will need people like the drone pilots, even if they have done horrific things.

This is not indicative, on any level, of what is normal in the military. Least ways, not in the Army. Different branches and different Corps inside those branches have different oddities and nuances, but on the whole this is not even close to normal.

It would make more sense. Since the officers are the ones who fly the aircraft in the first place. Not normally generals, as they have other duties. But if they dont already, then officers probably should pilot the drones, as well...
