The Dark Tower.

Start by completely re-casting the entire film. Idris Elba was NOT Roland. That whole movie was offensive. Delete it completely.

Get entirely new writers, directors, producers, etc. Start from scratch.

Start the show during Wizard and Glass. Work its way up to The Gunslinger.

Have Cort played by either Bruce Willis or Mickey Rourke.

Go from there.

All the way to the end.

Tweak the ending so it's less stupid.

Make bank.

Since we can't travel back in time and kidnap Clint Eastwood from the 1970s to play Roland, who would you cast?

He might get getting a bit too old for the role at this point as well, but how would you feel about someone like Nathan Fillion in the role? Keep in mind, if we're talking about a TV show, you have to cast someone low-enough tier that they'd be willing to accept working on a TV show, and young enough to potentially last for multiple seasons, but old enough to be believable as the character. That kind of restricts casting a bit.

The other thing to consider is that Amazon was going to make a Dark Tower TV show, but when the movie tanked they backed off the idea.

I kind of disagree. I think you need to start with Gunslinger (where Roland is both at his coolest, and where you can focus on him without having other characters as distractions - especially characters who will ALL be dead soon), and work your way to Wizard and Glass as a flashback. If extremely clever, you can pull a Highlander and have flashback scenes interspersed with modern-day scenes, alternating, where it's very obvious that the situation in the past reflects the situation in the present.

10 years ago, I would have demanded Viggo Mortenssen.

5 years ago I would have really liked Javier Bardem (weird accent, kinda otherworldly, tall, dark, handsome, mildly creepy, solid Roland vibe).

But now? In 2020? Dayum.....they would almost HAVE to get a no-name actor who literally becomes Roland Deschain of Gilead.

Kinda like what happened to Hugh Jackman with Wolverine.

That needs to happen with Roland.

Just have to pray that the Gods of entertainment and casting is there to bless the moment, you know?

The fact that that shitty ass fucking movie with Idris Elba even happened....honestly makes me wonder what kind of shady shit was happening behind the scenes.

It just shouldn't have happened. At all.

Ron Howard was attached to the project for several years......and suddenly it was all silenced, and then this weird ass Idris Elba movie came out of nowhere.

No one asked for it.

No one wanted it.

And it wasn't even based on the books. It was like it was from another dimension of the universe the books kinda take place in. Sorta. Kinda. With no love given to the franchise. Just made because they could.
