Bofuri beated. This was super great! Probably even liked it better than Eizouken. It was like a cute girls doing cute things anime, but in an action fantasy setting, so everything felt a lot more fresh. And the action was good, too! Every episode was so much fun, and the characters were great. The "story" had a good pace to it, so there was always something fun going on. Maple's OP-ness was a bit silly at times, but it worked well enough in the context where it was usually treated as a joke, so it was all good. Highly looking forward to S2!

I thought the last episode had a good payoff where she says "I'm just playing the game normally" and everyone from all the different guilds was there to say "NO YOU ARE NOT"

Alright so.

Tamayomi isn't what I was hoping it would be. Doesn't look great and seems like it's doing more the cute girls doing cute things right. Was hoping for a little Hanebado blood.

Tower of God seemed a little disjointed, almost like it should have been the second episode, but damn if it doesn't have a cool look and dear God that soundtrack.

Kakushigito is very good, and I'm definitely gonna watch, but I didn't LOVE it. I couldn't get super into SZS either. I guess I'm just not completely on board with this guy's stuff or style.

Listeners has a promising start and shows some of that E7 blood. Didn't blow me away or anything, but interested to see where it goes.

Wave, Listen to Me still the best so far.

Was not expecting it to be that good. Jeez. Makes the rest of the season seem like such a letdown in comparison though, I know they can't always have it at that standard but the gap in quality is immense.

This season had several of the best fights of the entire show so I'm going to go ahead and say that I have trouble believing that claim. (Note I have not read the manga)

Though I will say I don't really care about visuals at all so if that's the metric people are judging by then whatever.

the overhaul arc did suffer a bit from them focusing on the movie during its production, but it didn't really bother me.

I will say I could understand a complaint that it's the wrong fights that were the highlights. In the Overhaul arc, basically everything leading up to the finale was a top tier MHA fight but then Deku vs Overhaul itself was a bit average in comparison. Then the Gentle Criminal fight which is the climax of the School Festival Arc was also only pretty good.

Yeah this is the bit where I meant it was a letdown. The other fights were generally not as good visually as season 2 and 3 stuff and that's what I'm looking for in an anime adaptation. I've already read it in the manga, so I'm most focused on the animation and direction and stuff. I'm not exactly in tense anticipation over the plot cause I know what'll happen already.

I am very, very interested in Sing Yesterday after episode 1. I feel like anime like this doesn't get made anymore...of course it's based on a 90s manga, I believe, which you can definitely tell.

Next Life as a Villainous is SO GOOD, man this season is just KILLING it so far.

the ghost anime is the third one that those people that make those awful flash-tier anime have made with horrendously recorded voice acting and royalty free music. i still have no fucking clue how it even airs on tv

the other one is season 2 of a terrible vtuber sitcom. it has laugh tracks. i have no idea why it got a second season but now it has twice as many vtubers

Wow this Digimon Adventure remake really is on point. What a perfect blend of nostalgically old and refreshingly modern.

They've been going super hard into the quality of the Digimon franchise as of late though, so not soon surprised.

Also wow the music in this has no business being this good.

Can someone help me remember the name of a show real quick? I think it came out like 2 years ago, and I remember it had actual footage from like Street Fighter or something in it? I think it had multiple games actually, like Guilty Gear too?

I have had it go both ways, but a lot of shows tend to put their best foot forward.

Bofuri is a case where I thought it started strong enough, but just kept gettin better. That said, the opposite is more common. There are also a lot of shows that don't get worse, but I just lost interest in the entire concept as a whole. This primarily happens with generic action shows, comedy shows that don't hit it out of the park, or a lot of SoL shows. Episodic stuff in general I don't think I can watch anymore, unless it's an absurdist comedy.

Recent-ish example is Kinmoza. I loved the first season, but couldn't make it through the first episode of season 2, even though it was basically the same. I think that's when I started to really shift what I was into and wanted to watch, and I basically fell off of SoL comedies entirely. Devil Next Store fell flat for me, the angel one from last year or the year before everyone loved I couldn't care less about. The most terrifying thing there is...even if they make a new Yuru Yuri season, would I even watch it? I would hope so.

Kakushigoto is absurdist enough that I will continue, but will I finish it? Very unlikely. It's no Asobi Asobase or Konosuba. I probably won't finish Arte. I probably won't actually watch Digimon.

There are quite a few so far that I think I will stick with this season, though, unless something goes wrong. Gleipner could fall apart quick. Listeners is a real wild card, because it could just end up making me mad that Dai Sato can't even manage to rip HIMSELF off well, if it doesn't hold it together.

I mean joining and actually staying with the crew for a full arc/going forward. So that we actually get to see him with everyone hanging out and doing stuff.
