I get that there's a group who's known for doing the generals, and they're mostly posting these individual threads. That's kind of their thing - sure, no hate.

But the last few threads have been nothing but a series of escalating shitshows. Users attacking each other, the same clique shit that got the general threads banned. Veggeta got a warning and refused to even hint at the reason for his warning, then he's over in some other thread talking shit about why someone else got suspended. Then people called him out for it, name calling ensued and the thread became a pile of infighting and petty drama.

Petty drama is baked into the warned/suspended threads, but not to the point where completely unrelated groups of users band together to talk shit on each other and ignore the topic of the thread. We've got a thread with 70+ posts and a thread with 100+ posts, and most of it is a bunch of pissy jabs and wet noodle slapping instead of anything to do with the moderations. Meltdowns in those threads have been great in the past, but not when everyone in the fucking thread is melting down.

Whose idea was it to make the warned/suspended general, anyway? Because that fucked everything up. Each new thread attracts the crowd from the general, and they piss all over everything with the same behavior that got the general banned. These threads used to feel spontaneous, where people could have a laugh at the news of the day. Now we've got the same handful of shitposters who want to circlejerk all the time, and a second handful of slightly different shitposters who butt heads with the circlejerkers.

Frankly, if this is how the warned/suspended threads are going to be from now on - the general, but broken up into multiple concurrent threads - I think I'd rather them just get nuked. The way they are now, they're just pathetic. The potential is there, but the same toxic users sink them every time. What a fucking bummer.

Why do you think the solution is to punish the users for making the threads instead of punishing the users who keep shitposting, as you say? Seems unfair to those who actually aren't breaking the rules.

IIRC, the warned general came into creation, because everyone would rush to create a topic when a notorious poster got modded. It wasn't uncommon to see several topics dedicated to how X got warned/suspended/banned on CE.

Actually I heard the reason was that the op blocked certain users, then pinged them on alts knowing good and well they couldn't respond. They'd also respond to separate topics from blocked people (Who couldn't know when a general was up) and told them to post in the general.

Came off as some pretty petty trolling.

If the threads don't offer anything of substance, why keep them? I doubt the mod staff want to sift through hundreds of posts in these threads to punish individual users, when the root problem is the amount of threads being created and the lack of topicality being applied.

I wanted to give these threads a chance, but if they're all going to be the same flavor of shit, then why even keep them? At this point, the general crowd should just make a community board for this stuff.

In addition, people who were blocked from the general would make a topic to discuss someone getting warned and some would enter their thread taunting "keep it in the general"

It's like I said in my OP here. These threads used to feel like you were responding to the news of the day. You see some dipshit clowning on the board, you hop off for an hour or two, and when you get back on CE you find the topic saying he was suspended. Then you get to have a laugh and do a bit of clowning, and you move on with your day.

When more notorious posters got busted, those topics had a field day - it was madness. When it came to CE drama, those topics were solid fucking gold. Now it's being driven into the ground by the crew who manned the general.

It's threads for absolute nobodies - which threads were they clowning, what were they modded for? Everyone just acts obtuse about it. And the notable users, like NinjaBreakfast - it's 100+ pages of shit, including my own jabby posts. What the fuck happened to these threads?

I can't say I really remember what the old X is warned/suspended/banned topics where like and while the warned general topics were nice at the beginning I've slowly found myself posting in them less and less.

Maybe it's just because it's been a few years since the warned general topics started, but I frankly just see no reason to care if someone else got modded to the point that topics need to be made about it.

Absolutely, but I imagine that's for the whole board or for multiple boards. If a certain gimmick style of topic started making waves on CE, in the sense that they were generating a higher amount of reports than any other threads on the board, I imagine the mod staff would put an end to it. It wouldn't be the first time.

It's like 6.15 AM though and I'm running on fumes - could just be me being presumptuous. Let me know and I'll respond when I wake up.

NinjaBreakfast, at the absolute baseline, is a name I remember. I feel like they've been posting here for ages. To me, that alone is notable - I know who the dude is on some superficial level.

You're right that I didn't have the best grasp on NinjaBreakfast, but that's a name I know.
