Deist. I do believe there's agency behind the universe and that there's some sort of seemingly indirect, metaphysical interaction that may be had, but that it's impossible for us to understand and that I'm better off not trying to make claims about what it is or isn't.

For the record I confess that I used to bullshit and raise hell on the NFLB. I was sick of the Pats winning every year and their controversial antics, and my approach to handling it was to be incessantly but playfully mischivous.

Do you have any love left for the theological, or has your church experienced soured you towards religion as a whole? Like I'm cool with religion, but churches can suck a busload of dicks.

Edit: saw post #21, I'm assuming you're chill with theology and stuff so that's cool. Either way, I imagine it takes a lot of guts and soul-searching to leave a faith/church like that.

Yeah, I still read various books on both stuff I believe in and what I don't.

I was a part of a couple Calvinist churches, and both flagrantly fucked with me. My final church was a Methodist one and they were much nicer, but I felt I had to go because I lost my Christianity and felt severely out of place at church anymore.

I do some volunteering for theologically liberal quakerism and go to a Friends meeting. We have Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, Atheists, and plenty of others. It's p rad.

I actually stopped feeling turbulence a long time ago (I started identifying as a Deist in June 2018). At that point it was a matter of how to go about leaving the Christian church (I got along well with people at the last one, but I only joined it to avoid excommunication from my previous church. That one had me sign an agreement that I'd transfer to another church within a year if I left theirs. There's a long story to that, including nasty e-mails and voicemails they left me on my way out).

Did you try another one? I am Christian, but I mostly pray by myself and do the occasion bible study offered by my church.

This is always weird for me to hear. At that point its not even a church in my opinion and they do nothing to help the message of what they are supposedly trying to preach. I heard a pastor this week say any church that would shun others from wanting to join is really just a glorified coffee club where stubborn people go to agree with each other. I feel thats true

My wife and I are actually looking for a new church now and they one we've been to recently has some of the most welcoming people I've ever met and they do a ton of stuff for the community. It kinda sucks that no one (atleast online) ever seems to see that side of the church and insults others regardless of how their church operates

Yeah, I left the Calvinist world for a theologically liberal Methodist church. A lot of nice people there, but ultimately wasn't 'for me'.
