I don't understand why those topics were even against the ToS

Looking back at the closing message, it appears to be worded to say no, the topic itself is not against the terms, but other things around it were. I've had many topics on board 261 that ended like this because of something somebody else posted or an argument that broke out within a topic, and rather than act on the posts in question it's easier for a mod to click it to locked status.

^I have also seen this work both ways with the mod staff. Here's one, well it's technically against some rules but "it's entertaining" or "we enjoy" it, so they said it can stay. And believe me, I have seen plenty going the other way where it's not technically a violation but the mod is not amused and locks it.

I really hope that "my entertainment" is not the sole reason to keep a topic open or closed anymore. I was a big fan of lessening drama with Goats and it's a shame that this effort has been shut down before it really had a chance to happen. It would be less entertaining for some people to watch us get along and agree, but that's not a reason to drop a topic off the face of the earth.

There could've been many accounts that tried to do that, but they would get moderated for it almost as quickly as I was. Now it's the other way, even though it's the same content. And of course when you know how this place works, this is not an admission to a mistake or anything like that, it's just that mods were 100% right one way and now they're 100% right the other way. Wouldn't be the first time some mods did a total 180 at the drop of a hat.

It was one mention that I just threw in there, didn't even say who the mod was, so it was very unexpected to see my message modded within minutes and then a total closure after saying none of that stuff ever happened even though the witnesses came in to back it up. Not just users but a mod himself, because if it didn't actually happen then none of them would've thought that post applied to them - but he knew personally because he came in thinking it applied to him, and then suddenly has this revelation where he remembers everything from 6 years ago. Meanwhile in spite of all that, my dispute is still in waiting for an overturn that may never happen. It's a very bizarre set of events.

What was the final straw?

IMO? The last guy who came in to vouch for me, and there are very specific reasons for that. 6 years ago when people were calling out that behavior, the response was no, no, none of that violates the terms. But today there's reddit and some mods are saying YES, YES, it violates the terms to do that, it can't be linked here. Well, either both violate or none do.

And there's more that could be pointed to way more recent than 6 years ago, certain mods saying things about the users here from discord, but since I'm just a spectator to this I will let others more familiar with that speak to it. So there's a lot of behavior that has gone on back and forth, and either all of it would be a violation if done here, or none of it.

But it's all offsite. So one mod was in there apologizing and talking about how he wouldn't accept those messages if they were on Gamefaqs but there's nothing he can do and so on and so on. It would never be allowed here! Well......users with knowledge of past events disagree.

I mentioned the old twitter thing precisely because that was something that would've happened from here and that actually had mod oversight. Wasn't that a violation? When presented with that option, the easiest mod choice would be to cover that under the rug and just bulldoze the question.

I said people were abusing the block feature to troll other users.
User A makes topic.
User A has User B blocked.
User B makes topic similar.
User A uses alts go to User B's topic and tell them to use User A's topic knowing full well that they have User B blocked on their main.

User A has to make the topic. Only three people hosted while the block feature existed which was Goats, JMO, and Machete. Machete's got locked early and JMO doesn't block people.

CE is a disposable message board, you post something stupid and it's wiped off the face of the earth 2 days later. You've got websites which record everything, which only the most hardcore of assholes tend to use - but the whole gimmick of CE is how often it scrubs itself clean. So why not have individual threads about users who have been warned? Just post individual threads that run their course and get deleted instead of maintaining a general thread frequented by the same handful of users. It gets the news to more people, and when it's done, it's done.

Also just wanted to say that this venom dude is super bonkers, like "you don't have a wife like me, error! or a job like me, error! you only stay here because you love having control over people, error!" A Blogspot website about "exposing the lies of GameFAQs mods", a Twitter handle dedicated to @ ing Error and a subreddit comprised of a bunch of troll circlejerking have been active over the last few years, all of them stemming from sore feelings in users from a decade ago, or even longer. Some stupid motherfucker even has a reputation for doxxing people on here, he's that obsessed with this website that he'll try to ruin people's lives. Legitimately, what sort of Kool-Aid are some of you guys drinking? How miserable do you have to be to hold internet grudges for this long? It's really, really pathetic.
