Your own damn link broduski

Meanwhile, research has shown that doctors spend less time with patients who are obese. They are also more reluctant to perform pelvic exams or educate patients who are obese. And they may fixate on a patients weight, thereby overlooking crucial symptoms. The February JAMA editorial describes the case of Ellen Maud Bennett, who experienced fatigue for years before her death. Doctors at every visit advised her to lose weight. In the process, however, they missed the true reason for her malaise: advanced-stage cancer.

I don't get the obsession with other people's weight. I'm pretty sure everyone is aware that being obese is unhealthy. Going "YOU'RE FAT!" is not suddenly going to make them realize that they should change their lifestyle.

Not thoroughly, no, but they all tell the same story, once the "OMG! Fatshamer!!" is peeled away - especially so the Bennett case.

"I have [symptom]!"
"Well, that's plausibly caused by being overweight, so let's deal with that."
(some time later)
"I still have [symptom]!"
"Well, you're still overweight, so I can't eliminate that as an underlying factor."

"Chainsmoking" or "alcoholism" could have been copy-pasted into all three articles, and nothing really changes.

This isn't true though. Lots of excess body fat places a lot of strain on your cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems, no matter what. Even if you start in pristine health, after a decade or so of being very overweight, your body will feel the effects.

Agree with TC on this one though.

Fat shaming is bad. Fat acceptance is bad. The two don't need to be mutually exclusive.

Body positivity is a great thing, but not when it's promoting an unhealthy lifestyle.

Jillian Michael's was right to stick to her guns. People want someone who's entire background is fitness to tell big people to keep doing what they do, regardless of health issues. Literally her job and passion to do the opposite. But uh oh, she said it to someone who is popular :0. Foh

Also, you know how many times people tell me I need to eat more?

"Oh shit, is that how people are gaining weight? I was trying to figure that out." Derp

I'm actually fine with that tho, just don't break down over the smallest and most logical fat acknowledgement.

Yes but what if you have someone that exercises all the time? Someone who is obese, but is very flexible, can run for hours, etc. They just consume so much that they are obese, but are very healthy/athletic otherwise

Like big bodybuilders are technically overweight/obese, but many have a sort of athleticism to them

You will have to get used to seeing little Johnny/Jenny hang out with you during your dates, which will be at family friendly places, never in a bar or a fun place for grown ups, sex will have to be carefully planned and scheduled and one day, after a small number of dates little Johnny/Jenny will call you dad while looking at mommy, who will give him/her a "well done!" look.

The price to pay is so high it's easy to get those dates.

My learned definition of "checked" is just being confronted on your views. It could also mean, getting rocked in the face, but that's if it's already a violent situation. It basically just means, coming at the person with the same energy they're putting out.

Eh, seems like he just isn't a fan of kids. Which you don't have to like kids and it's really good to not get into relationships that involve them if you don't. Cause if it doesn't work out and you became part of the kid's life, you're potentially hurting 2 people instead of just one adult. Some of the factors are kind of shallow but again, it's his choice. I like kid's and I wouldn't mind it at all at 30. In fact, I'd rather get to ease into a kid's life, rather than have all the pressure of it actually being mine from the gate lol. Single moms are definitely on my radar. A good Uncle and the first lil while is basically like being an Uncle. You just do all the fun parts of parenting.
