You gotta think they wanted to Port p5 to switch at some point. Probably had an idea for a musuo game and then talked with Nintendo about joker in smash around the same time. Came to the idea that they might as well develop the spinoff for the switch and begin work on a port. Found out a port wasn't feasible for whatever reason. Sony. atlus clearly have some agreement with sony persona 5 is one of the better selling jrpgs this gen. its sold more than any atlus game in their history.
