Man what a collection of winners.

This is like the one award where Im bemused at the fact that Astra: Lost in Space didnt do so well. It seemed to be hitting all the right notes as an underrated gem, but the individual characters got overlooked. Instead we got these following hot debutants!
Senku, collected the Jump crown beating out Norman/Ray, Tanjiro and Nariyuki, deserving winner of that mini race. Much more confident presence, extremely intelligent and creative and his ambitious project is a good draw.
Poor Thorfinn, Askeladds taken everything hes worked for and romped all the way to a very respectable 2nd place. Villain of the year, and not too far off from being, flat out best character of the year as well.
Our winner though again comes from the Kaguya series, now we did insert a debuts only clause, which eliminated some of his competition. Still just like last year, both members of the best couple were able to cover themselves in glory later on.

Miyukis a loveable goofball, you see his character design at first and his established smarts remind you of maybe a Light type character. Since this is a comedy series though, instead of being a megalomaniac, we have an insecure man desperate to hide any of his flaws and doing his utmost to keep up appearances. A commoner in an environment filled with the wealthy elite, he must navigate all the school politics while remaining top of the academic rankings. Hes an underdog that presents himself as a genius, but we just get to his shortcomings and how Kaguya can exploit them.

Shame Ishigami from the same series was an afterthought, but he could very well be a candidate for most improved character next year.

Chihayafuru with that QB sneak to nab 3rd place away from Neverland. Its cast was pretty much locked out of most of the awards.

Theres only so much I can add regarding Attack on Titan or Kaguya after the two pretty much cleaned house this year. Either one would have been a deserving winner, but the main gist here is, if youre looking for laughs for watch Kaguya, if youre an Attack on Titan fanyouve probably already seen this season. If you havent yet started Attack on Titan but like action series, then this is one of the best, so get going.

In the end though, Ive come off feeling that this year was more top heavy than anything. We had some great new series like Neverland and Vinland Saga, some solid sequels like Attack on Titan, but weve also had a ton of middling quality anticipated shows.

Its also a very Board 8 result, a glance over on MAL and Shield Hero, Mob Psycho II and heck SAO seem more popular than other stuff that did well here. With us, its usually mix of that one show we latched on to and peoples individual niche series.

Well, on to AOTD at..some point this month. Anything from this past year that you guys think could win big? Attack on Titans certainly looking good as itll get combined with previous seasons.

Shirogane is definitely not the best male character in Kaguya (Though he is #2 pretty much by default, and I disagree with any notion that he's bad)

Damn almost picked Kaguya for AotY too, but was hoping it wouldnt happen.

Only seen 3 of the AotY winners apparently. 4 if I count the 3 episodes of Kaguya before dropping it. Will get to Re:Zero when the new re-release is done and I plan to check out Soma eventually still. Probably when the anime is finally done.

Happy that Kaguya did well, though I was kind of hoping it wouldnt do such a clean sweep now that it is getting a second season. I dont think Kaguya x Shirogane is anywhere close to Best Couple if we go strictly by Season 1 for instance.

Then again I dont know how many awards Season 2 would be eligible for next year.

Pour one out for Mob II, sorry I failed you even if I'm not sure if my votes would have made it place in anything

Neverland is going to get its due this year, I guarantee it. Very excited to see their reaction to this season from anime only viewers.

Mob is definitely the most tragic underperformer here.

Probably, in terms of performance relative to its popularity.

I didn't really care for Mob though so I'm not complaining.
