Is that really natural black hair? Like those lumps? I thought that was a hairstyle.

That said, these people are weird.

I've seen them do this with plenty of other white people tbf, lots of folk just like touching "different" hair.

This.

They're not even making fun of hair.

What's actually happening is quite the opposite. The dude Tweeting is just insecure as fuck about black people's hair for some dumbfounded reason. ('-' )

Yeah, they would do it to a mohawk/spiked style, longer hair (guys and girls) and especially curly hair. I've also seen people play with girl's buns, ponytails, braids, etc.

Agreed with the latter part too. It's weird to do that to someone you aren't dating or don't have a mutual like with, but I don't think it's worth being outraged over.

I'm black and honestly, I've never had a big issue with this.

I get the idea behind why this would make some mad, but people have always asked me before touching my hair. And I know it's coming from a place of curiosity, so ehh whatever

It's one thing if a friend gets curious from time to time. It's another thing when you have multiple strangers throughout the year wanting to put their nasty hands all in your hair. "Yes it's my real hair. No you can't touch it." One of the bartenders got upset when I told her no. I'm not a damn sheep.

If a person asks to touch her hair and she's ok with it then I don't have a problem with it. It's when people just reflexively touch another person's hair is when it becomes an invasion of space. Curiosity is ok, but it's faux pas to just go touching any black person's hair without asking permission.

Unless it's my barber or the stylist that does my twists then I just don't want random people putting their hands in my hair period. I don't know where your hands have been, you could have been scratching your crotch idk.

In defense of those white folks in that video, its not done in a malicious way at all. I don't have hair that texture and I hardly get to feel what it feels like. There is a real desire to just touch hair like that and gain an understanding of what it feels like.

Nothing racist or demeaning in the least but more like an honest desire to familiarize yourself with something that you're truly curious about.

The first time I felt hair like that it was such an awakening experience. It felt like a soft sponge, a texture I never imagined hair could feel like. The more I felt it the more I wanted to continue feeling it. Its kinda hard to explain but I know there are others out there who understand what I mean.
