You know how American movies like Die Hard and True Lies etc always portray foreigners as bad. I'll admit I'm not a huge foreign movie buff but is this a thing.

I shall set down in a few lines how upright Maldoror was during his early years, when he lived happy. There: done.

There was a monster movie from South Korea once that basically everything was the American military's fault. They caused the monster. I can't remember the name. It was a big movie at the time. At least amongst Korean monster films

Sigh......i can picture the movie and everything. It is from like 10 years ago

These days it's more common for the US to be evil even in American movies.

1953's Wages of Fear, from France, didn't dwell in the matter much, but it was critical enough of the US oil company (fictional IIRC) that 35 minutes were cut from it for distribution stateside.

Funnily enough, the Soviet films Miss Mend and The Extraordinary Adventurers of Mr West in the Land of the Bolsheviks have American protagonists (the former does also have American villains, too, however). I think the reason for this is that Soviet citizens and the filmmakers both loved American comedies and adventure films of the time, and these films were very much in that mold.

That's retcon shit.

Just talking about how in the stand-alone canon of the first film, America created a giant iguana that stomp-murdered, fire-murdered and radiation-murdered pretty much everyone in Tokyo.

Letters from Iwo Jima isn't a foreign movie and even ignoring that, mentioning it in the context of this topic ignores the film's own context with its companion piece.

Trying to think of some Swedish movies with American antagonists.
Swedes, Baltics, Russians, Italians, Germans...
I can only think of one... played by Mark Hamill!

If citizens have an ingrained distrust of their own government (paranoid fantasies about the New World Order, black helicopters, FEMA camps, etc), then it'd be logical for them to see the military not as the nation's military any longer but rather as the enemy's (i.e. the government's) military -- they'd treat it with the same suspicion as any other government agency.
