Poll of the Day > I started playing Borderlands 2 recently

It's pretty good but I feel like I've played this exact game before. but I've only played BL1 and that was 10 years ago. is there something different about this one? it has really high reviews but I've been driving around an empty desert and shooting the same 5 enemies with the same 5 guns for 10 hours so far. which is how I remembered the first one... Good fun for a while but I couldn't finish it due to the monotony.

The second game is a lot more fun and less clunky than the first.

If you're not liking it after 10 hours, maybe it just isn't for you

The story in the second was better and I certainly enjoyed it more. The DLC was a lot of fun too but the same can be said for the first. It's basically more Borderlands and apparently 3 is the same. That's not a bad thing for me though.

Also, the plot is WAAAAAY better, most characters have more personality, most quests feel more enjoyable, and the Vault Hunters you play as feel more dynamic.

That's your problem. Go Zer0 if you want stealth and engaging playstyle or Maya if you want flashy gameplay that's easy mode.

I would strongly consider it. Many, and by many I mean most will say he is the weakest out of all the characters.

Borderlands 2 features an impressive amount of enemy and level variety, though if you're taking things slowly you may still be fighting bandits and bullymongs after 5 hours. The game also does a good job of supporting different playstyles. Zer0 can go pure melee, maya can make big elemental wombo combos and salvador has access to the raw power needed to make a berserker concept viable in a game full of guns. Axton (turret guy) is definitely the most straightforward character, maybe you'd have more fun trying out someone else.

That is the only character I haven't finished the game with. He's by far the most boring (for me).

Every other character has a fun mechanic, although I do find the Mechromancer a bit too easy mode.

Zero has stealth (backstabs but with guns lol), high damage and sniper spec. He's a blast.
The gunzerker dual wields guns, kinda like brick in BL1 but...again with guns now....he prob does the most damage.
Maya I think the siren's name is, isn't as good as the Siren in BL1 (best char in my opinion though mord was awseome as well) but she is still fun.
You can also play as krieg who is basically one of those crazy exploding guys lol, he is a trip to play as.

And the Mechnomancer is super powerful, with a robot companion that destroys everything, and you don't need to be able to aim, cause your bullets auto ricochet (50% of the time) and hit enemies, and you get a huge damage boost along with a huge reduction in accuracy, so it's basically made for people who suck at FPS games.

Game is a blast, DLC is a blast. BL1 was GREAT as well, I didn't like the pre-sequel, and didn't enjoy the little I played of BL3 (could have played for a whole weekend, got bored and played like 1 hour).

In my opinion 2 is the best although I actually enjoyed the Siren from 1 the most, I'm not sure who I enjoyed the next most (Mord and Zero are both contenders but so was the gunzerker in 2....was meh on roland and the turret guy in 2 (Forget his name). Krieg isn't a fav of mine and the Mechromancer was kinda meh as well.

So for me it's probably BL1 Siren as favorite with a 3 way tie between Mord + Zero + gunzerker for second favorite.The two turret characters are my least favorite in both games though.

Cool!

If you play as zero, use shotguns from stealth, run right up to an enemy with your shotgun in stealth and unlead and your destroy most of them, works on boss fights well too. It also works well with sniper shots though (zeroes speciality anyway).

You can actually snipe something long distance, stealth and then snipe something else as they won't know where you are. The extreme damage from stealth bonus + snipe bonus + headshot/critical shots usually means you can take out 2 pretty tough enemies that way before they even get close to you.

He doesn't have the best defenses of them all though, so a few fights can be a bit harder, but as you level up it'll get easier, especially if you have good hp regen/shield regen. Remember to wait till the end of your stealth to fire, as eventually you heal hp in stealth and your shields recharge if they are fast enough as well.

I was enjoying clicking heads the most out of any playstyle with turret guy so it's good I switched to zer0 since he has a sniper skill tree. I had no idea. should probably have researched a bit.

You need B0re and the crit chaining with him is amazing if you can get the stacks up.

Axton is the basic beginner character. Easy to use, relatively simple, nothing too complicated in terms of build or tactics. The average character who isn't overly strong or weak in any facet - basically, he's the Mario. Most of the others have more exotic play mechanics. If you find Axton boring, you might want to try one of the others instead.

Also, the game is a looter shooter. Theres dozens like it in the world of gaming. But only BL will have the crazy characters and story that makes the game great.

I mean it has the best story IMO just because of how crazy it is.

I mean there is a mission where Jack straight up tells you to kill yourself and you jump off of a cliff and you respawning and he PAYS you for completing the mission
