Haven't played it before and know nothing about it.

I'm in the middle of my mission of playing all the Final Fantasies and am currently on FF X.

The usual retail price is around 45 bucks new, so is it worth it? What's the game like?

It's like a game that didn't make up its mind between being a mmo and rpg like X, suffering for it. IMO, it's the one that truly ended the "must-have" status for the Final Fantasy main games. VIII is definitely skippable, but IX brought it back to being great. X was very good, but XII just fell apart.

The opening scene is great. IIRC, it was something like 3 million dollars alone for that, a record at the time. Then, it just loses its way. Who is the main character? Vaan? Basche? Ashe? Balthier (who was actually my favorite in this game and one of the entire series)? Does it matter? Not in the least.

The story should pull you in, as Ivalice's history and background is interesting. Yet somehow it doesn't as you're going from point a to b, with little freedom

It isn't a terrible game but any means. But it is the only FF game I have played through and beaten once. I pushed myself to finish it. There were no surprises. No "wow" moments other than the opening scene. It was just a let down for a long time FF fan.

I platinumed the game. The fast forward option makes the game so much better.

My favorite part was abusing the gambit system to auto level you for 12 hours and make the game ezmode.

The only thing about this is you don't have to set gambits up to auto level you for 12 hours. And honestly, levels don't matter all that much in this game anyways. You can technically beat every enemy in the game at level 1. This game is completely about your gear.

i always play the first 20 hours then quit

I'd much rather go back to xenoblade on the switch, but i figure the fast forward feature will help
even though i think the fast forward footsteps are annoying as hell

Then again, I got both FF X and FF X-2 for the same price.

Personally, its one of my favorite FF games, I love Ivalice as a setting.

FF8 is not a skippable game only people who have bad tastes dont like it

Me too, I love Ivalice, all the lore in the bestiary, the music, and the characters (even Vaan and Penelo grew on me, though I wish they had alternate outfits)

There was a Final Fantasy 12 that came out on PS2 back in 2006. This game is from 2017 so I don't recall this one. Zodiac Age is on amazon for $18.88, $21.99, and the steelbook is going for $32,99.

Considered the 2nd worst game in the main series by many, only "surpassed" by 13.

Junctions were a terrible, draws were annoying, and it had the worst timing imaginable, coming between two classics/superior games (VII and IX)

Welp. Caved in and bought it.

It's a digital copy for the Switch and I got it just a few hours before the sale ended. Now it's back up to $50.

Going into the backlog for now though since I'm still in the middle of FFX.

you can one shot a lot of bosses in ff8 by keeping squalls hp low and having him perform rakutuan or some sword thing

ff8 has wonderful music
and some cool parts

but i dunno ff8, ff10,13,15 aren't real final fantasy to me
the monsters in them always look weird and they have those weird hair cuts

The mod looks fantastic.

God's, I remember beta testing it a ridiculously long time ago. It likely looks nothing like how it was when I played it. I should give it another go.

That said, I see it pop up on videos here and there so it's gotten really popular in the gaming community, which is nice to see.

I got a physical copy for $20 from best buy the week before Xmas.

I didn't like 12 much when I was younger, but I'm always willing to try and give a game another shot years later.

Back burner for now though. Finishing Tales of Vesperia and then moving on to Fire Emblem Three Houses.

I also bought 12 on the Switch because I have like 4 games on it, on the TV it plays great, on handheld mode not so much.

Aye, I stopped/saved outside of zozo for now because I feel super weak and like I need to grind out some enemies and get more hp before I go further

I picked up FFX/X-2 while it was on sale but man that game just refuses to download for some reason....

I'm really loving this game, might be my new Favorite FF game, but I haven't played or liked that many others.

Also why do they constantly give you guest Party members in this one? It feels like they should have just made it a 4 party limit.

Feel like it should be around that price without a sale by now but eh. My 3rd favorite of the series glad ya picked it up and hope you enjoy :o
