It's less optimal A tends to be the most used button, which is closer to the stick in the Wii U Pro layout. Less travel distance there. You can nudge up on it without even leaving the A button, and pulling down you'll be right above it Stick on the bottom means extending your thumb at a wider angle, stretching your thumb's muscles more than the Wii U Pro layout.
