The chance is of course very small, it won't be easy to turn 20 Republicans (or even make sure every Democrat votes for it).

However, most of the Republicans despise Trump almost as much as the Democrats do. If you don't know this, you really don't know anything.

The more Mitch bitches about it, the more obvious it is he's doing two things:

1- Convincing himself that he's got to stick with Trump
2- Making sure that the rest of the party falls in line

But they're politicians, every single one of them. They're always looking for a better deal. If enough of them can see that it would be best not just for the country but also for the party and particularly themselves to get rid of Trump, you can be damn sure that they would not hesitate one second to get rid of him.

Removing Trump would also be the best outcome for the country. There would be a large segment of the population that would cry of course, the diehard idiots. But many people who are still capable of thinking for themselves would see that he really was nothing but an opportunist out for his own personal gain.

What needs to happen for Trump to be removed? Throughout the course of the trial a new narrative needs to emerge in which the Republicans save themselves and the country from this clown. I think if events develop a certain way they will realize that they can turn this into a victory for themselves, and will. Three years of Trump have nearly completely turned the entire party into an idiot's puppet... but not completely. They are still giving themselves an option.

Republicans aren't going to be rewarded for voting to remove Trump. What is this garbo thinking at the left voting in conservatives as a result?

CNN, of all places, came out with a poll yesterday saying 49% oppose impeachment and 46% support impeachment (all voters). Trump has high approval ratings among Republicans. To go against Trump at this point would definitely not be a good idea for Republicans.

I mean it could in theory happen if they then really prop up Pence afterwards and play up the Christian conservative part unlike Trump. They would have to do it early though so his cult has time to forget about him before the election.

I don't get why they won't.

Pence would be a far better representative of the GOP. He'll pass all the same laws and appoint all the same judges as Trump, and he can actually speak coherently and doesn't attack every single person who criticizes him.

Do I want President Pence? Hell no, but Republicans should be going all in on him. I even think he'd have a better shot at winning the 2020 election than Trump would. All he has to do is pardon Trump.

Side note, do VPs get VPs when they become Ps or do they just get one if they're elected again

What makes you think that House Democrats won't push for Pence's impeachment for his involvement in Ukraine?

Because most Democrats won't get behind impeaching Pence. He hasn't been the one running his mouth for the last three years fucking up international relations. Besides, Pelosi can't push for him to be impeached right away considering she would then take his spot. It would just look terrible from an optics view.

Agreed.

Putin and Trump has already lubed up each Republican and gaped all of their holes. They're put into check now, and can't be saved.

Interesting question. If I think you're conveying what you are, Pence would not get a VP if he were to replace Trump, should Trump be impeached. VPs are elected by the people. For example, Trump can never fire Pence. Only not include him on the ballot in 2020.

Half the Republicans probably don't like him at all. But they'd rather use him to have a republican Majority for the next 4 years than let Democrats win the next election.

Democrats believe that Pence was in on the Ukraine situation based on Soundland's testimony among other evidence presented.
And terrible from an optics perspective by who? Liberals who've been calling for Pence/Trump to be removed since the beginning?

The fact that not a single house Republican voted for impeachment, I have my doubts that any will turn in the senate.

Mostly because the current Republicans in congress are so goddamn partisan that they are willing to aid in corruption to maintain power.
