The corny ones you see on TV and how they're presented aren't like real life. 1. there already has to be some sort of attraction on their end, 2. you have to be smooth enough to deliver the line and hopefully open the door into a conversation. If you just walk up to someone like "did heaven lose an angel, i think i saw your wings in the coat room" or some dumb shit like that she'll probably laugh at you, but if she's attracted to you it can be played off in a playful way and still open the door...its all about your approach and how endearing you come off.

It works if the woman was already interested from the get go. As long as it's not overt or gross, if she's at least a little interested, you could probably say anything and it'll work.

It's better to build rapport, though.

It can if you do it with an acknowledgement that it's corny and played out to use a line. But even then, a lot of guys have played that out now. I just accidentally spill drinks on people to start conversations
