Very little from here as I've avoided a lot about this game until I can play it. But if you enjoyed Alan Wake or Quantum Break this will feel at home for you.

Obsidians return to a Fallout New Vegas like world was well like by gamers. People have had some complaints about length or how late game is handled but considering this is the start of a new franchise this sounds like the place to start. The real question is will it still attract the same attention when this game is Xbox only in a few years?

7th Super Mario Maker 2
Super Mario Maker finished 7th in 2015 (?!)

Like its predecessor, Super Mario Maker 2 is a side-scrolling platform game in which players create their own courses using assets from across the Super Mario series and publish them onto the internet for others to play. Players can choose from a selection of prior Super Mario games to base their course's visual style and gameplay on, including Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, New Super Mario Bros. U, and a newly introduced Super Mario 3D World theme.

Mario Maker 2 wasn't the lightning storm that 1 was in some aspects and in other ways it was. It's twitch lifespan was much shorter but the quality in MM2 was just hands down better. The new 3D World theme was a great addition. Mario Maker 2 has the benefit of starting with all of 1s additions it got later like checkpoints. The additions and support to the game this time have been relatively little (a small december update and online with friends well after the game had died off). While it was one hell of a summer, Maker 2 needed the update support it didnt get to be anything more than a one trick yoshi. This shows in voting, not a single #1 vote.

The Pokemon where everyone complained, rightfully so, then went overboard and crazy. The game itself? One of the better versions they ever produced which is why its such ashame the game lacks all of the mons. New to this one is the Wild Area where you can do online coop multiplayer raids. A ton of quality of life fixes and the return of gym leaders to a glorious extent. (Not an error nobody ranked it #1)

bloodstained honestly has no business being on any top 10 list tbh

on pc it's an average metroidvania. on consoles it's borderline unplayable due to loading times.

I'm playing Ritual of the Night currently. It seems okay, but it awkwardly sits in the middle of being an homage to Metroidvanias of the past and being a modern Metroidvania. The graphical style and cumbersome movement don't do it any favors either. I honestly prefer Curse of the Moon easily at this point.

It was no shock that a main developed soulsborne title hit the the top 10, just looking at that history is evidence enough. Sekiro is easily the cruelest of all the group really not having a traditional level up system like the others. We had the infamous the game is too hard journalism backlash, and 'hardcore' gamers pushed back. A lot of questions that really won't be answered until Elden Ring drops revolving around difficulty, quality and this game's lasting legacy.

I am not a horror guy but I recognize the amazing job Capcom did. I only lasted a good hour before wanting to run from the hills playing this. They took one of the most talked about games of the PS1 era and turned it into an even bigger masterpiece. There was a reason this game deserved the ground up remake, even to a scaredy cat like me this reeks of some of the highest quality Capcom has ever produced for the franchise.

Let's clear the air. They really should have just named all the spinoffs (some debatable as spinoff even) as main # games so fans didn't clamor like maniacs for the "3rd" game thinking it was the last of this cash cow. On to the game, Kingdom Hearts III is about the same as the others which is to say a PS2 game length but it produces the series best graphics. There will be people angry its this high as it didn't answer everything or anything to them, and others satisfied they got to experience another entry in this franchise. More than any game on this entire list, there will be no pleasing everyone here.

I know a lot of people were angry at Kojima being tossed by Konami, but I had been more upset that Igarashi had just been chucked out. Mighty No 9 set this stigma that these ex developers had no talent, because well Keiji Inafune is just a business guy and gamers got baited from that kickstarter. People ganged up on Bloodstained in that same way, when the graphics were not to peoples liking they called it the next Mighty No 9. Newsflash the game was still good in that state, it had been touring conventions and plays exactly like it does now. So instead of ignoring gamers they went back and redid the art or maybe they never truly intended to use that unfinalized style. We will never know.

What we got was proof that the master of metroidvania was far from washed up like Konami thought. Bloodstained has a gigantic map filled with life, creative enemies, and creative bosses. I don't think Bloodstained does anything really new here but it does everything so well that like a good Darksiders game its easily forgiven. On that same token its why you will never see it on any GOTY list from any major publication as it didn't push the art or the medium to some 'new standard'. Bloodstained's legacy? Being a fantastic game

Having learned from the fatal error of splitting Fates into 3 games, they instead present all these options in one little switch cart. You play as Byleth, local mute bandit, who ends up with his father saving the three heirs to the three different kingdoms. Gameplay in battle is your standard Fire Emblem strategy rpg goodness but the rest of the time you'll explore ac Academy where you are uh suddenly a teacher at! Here you not only teach your units, sway others to join you, do side missions, and fish. Oh baby you fish.

Where the game really differs is the house you teach is the story campaign you get and each are different enough to warrant multiple playthroughs. In a game so focused on story its difficult to really say why this game nails its goal without giving too much away. Go Golden Deers.

Back in 2012 I personally couldnt afford the time to spend on it, ended up playing it in 2015ish

Outer Wilds finished 46th, offhand I can name two people that didnt submit in the 45 days I gave them and instead after, it may have done top 30 or just below it

I'm a million years late on this, but Shadowbringers absolutely deserves all the accolades it has gotten and more. Above and beyond being a fantastic MMO expansion, it's probably one of the best story-based JRPGs released this decade. Fantastic presentation of a top-to-bottom excellent narrative and very much worth your time (assuming you also have the time to get through the rest of FF14's story, which is like 3 full-length JRPGs at this point).

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but other than the music Three houses is just average.

The main problem is that there's not an iota of strategy required to beat any of the maps, even on hard. on normal you will be overleveled the whole game, and on hard it's still much less difficult than any other fire emblem game I've played. Maddening doesn't really fix the problem, it just makes the enemies overleveled. It's like treating the symptom and not the cause of the disease.

The problem is the maps are boring and the unit types are totally imbalanced. that's been a problem in all the FE games but it's even worse here.

As for the story, I think only 1/4 routes actually works (and the Edelgard route is a joke). also,making the supports fully voiced skits just emphasized how repetitive and boring they are. I acknowledge that FE isn't known for story anyway, but this time it's different because it seems like they're actually trying.

All that being said, it's still better than Fates and I applaud the developers for being ambitious. That music too. However, all the extra stuff isn't worth sacrificing the core FE gameplay.

EDIT: also, it was still my #6 game so that says something, I think.
