Haven't seen Midsommar or The Lighthouse yet so they aren't in consideration.

I liked it better than Midsommar, but I enjoyed Us more.

but I also haven't seen The Lighthouse (or Crawl or Doctor Sleep)

I haven't seen those either, though I'd be surprised if either top it(but I wanna see doctor sleep still). I admittedly forgot US was this year, it's a close contender.

I also heard that Tigers are not Afraid is pretty good, and I've been wanting to see that

I've only seen Us and Doctor Sleep. Us was the better one out of those two. I've heard Midsommar and The Lighthouse aren't really horror movies

I still need to see Us actually.

The only 2019 horror movies I've seen are Midsommar and Scary Stories to Read in the Dark.

Oh wait I lied, I also saw.

Hell House, LLC 3 (pretty good wrap-up to the trilogy)
Haunt (*really* fucking good)
1st Summoning (shit)

Imagine making a statement like that without seeing some of the highest-regarded movies

Imagine being so concerned with being harmlessly wrong that you avoid a statement because you haven't seen something.

Ready or Not was like a solid 7 for me, but definitely not the best of the year. Maybe a top 5.

Haunt, Midsommar, Us, and Crawl were all good, Midsommar might be the best for me. I haven't seen Lighthouse yet.

I definitely disagree. Thought the acting was bad outside of the known actors. And near the end they started just throwing logic out the window. Using off camera teleportation devices and shit lol. The ending was good tho. I was also bored for the entire middle. Most the jokes were delivered terribly with no charisma.

Midsommar and The Lighthouse are definitely better but Ready or Not was a lot of fun. Honestly It's kind of hard to compare them. I don't even know if I would call Lighthouse a horror movie.

Us--garbage movie IMO

Doctor Sleep--pretty great, I really enjoyed it.

Ready or Not--very fun, I also loved this movie.

Midsommar--it's fine. I don't love it but it's good.

The Lighthouse--fun. Maybe a bit too nebulous/meandering.

I watched Doctor Sleep last night, and I really liked it.

even though there were some call backs/fan service to it, it felt really different from The Shining.

just saw Tigers are not Afraid, and I really dug it.

it has a horror/fantasy kinda thing going on with cartel/gang violence in Mexico as a backdrop.

Midsommar was great but I'd hardly call it a horror movie.

I'd classify it as psychological thriller/horror

It was different for sure, and unexpected. Maybe that's why I liked it so much.
