I mean I'm pretty sure the Conservatives ending up with the most seats is a foregone conclusion, the only question is if they'll win enough to form a majority either outright on their own or through another coalition.

Also this. But don't worry, Boris is GETTING it DONE

Just don't ask what done means, please. Or when done is. Just accept it.

Fuck knows what would happen in a hung parliament. I can't see who the Tories would form a coalition with. The Brexit Party will be lucky to get a single seat, UKIP are finished, the Lib Dems, SNP and Plaid are diametrically opposed, they've burned their bridges with the DUP. Change UK (or whatever name they're going by this week) aren't worth mentioning.

That leaves, what, Labour + SNP? Who knows if they'll have enough seats or even be able to agree anything. The SNP have ruled out a formal coalition, so they say.

The only party I can see the Conservatives forming a coalition with is the Brexit party. I've seen a lot of people argue that the Liberal Democrats would support them, but I don't see why, or how. The both have Brexit at the forefront of their campaigns and both have exact opposite views on the matter.

I suppose it's possible that the Conservatives will see that other parties have a majority of seats, and go "oh well I guess the people have now said they don't want Brexit so let's cancel it", but I can't see the Liberal Democrats, helping facilitate Brexit. They almost fell into irrelevance after the last coalition they had with the Conservatives, and Brexit far bigger then deal then what they promised in the 2010 election.

Yeah, but when? It's not going to happen soon and all reports indicate still going to take years so even when Boris sadly wins, gonna be hell for awhile, and then it will really get grim.

I can't really find any info on it but does the way the UK's "system" is set up favour the Conservatives, like how the US' favours the Republicans?

Like you look at a map of the constituencies and the UK (particularly England) has an absolute fuckload of rural ones that always vote for the Conservatives.

E: And yes I know they have different forms of government, that's not relevant to my question.

I seem to remember a couple of elections back that Labour actually did better in terms of votes/seat (seems I was wrong on this; see below). For that reason, the Tories wanted to shrink the number of seats (to 600 was it?).

UKIP got shafted with something like 4m votes/1 seat. The SNP got like 50 seats on like 1m-2m votes (can't remember the actual number).

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/sep/06/theresa-may-to-ditch-plans-to-cut-number-of-mps-from-650-to-600

The commission is set to publish its latest proposals based on 600 constituencies next month, revealing which MPs would face the axe.

Labour opposes the reduction, which would cut the number of seats in its urban heartlands and result in the party losing more seats than the Tories. The Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, has previously labelled the plans gerrymandering.

The Tory leadership is preparing to abandon the plan and ask the Boundary Commission to redo the review on the basis of keeping all 650 MPs to ensure that all constituencies are of broadly equal size, the Times said.

Found the votes per seat from 2017:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/general-election-2015/politics-blog/11593854/Votes-Per-Seat-for-each-party.html

So the Tories had the advantage in 2017.

2015: https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/opendemocracyuk/voters-per-mp-why-first-past-post-failed/

The surprising result of the election illustrates the distorting effect of First Past The Post (FPTP) voting. The Tories have a 99-seat lead 15% of the parliaments seats on the opposition Labour, with 6.5% more of the vote share. The Lib Dems have lost many seats, falling to 7.9% of the vote share but with only 1.2% of the seats. The Greens have over 1.1 million voters with 1 seat. UKIP had nearly 4m votes, for 1 seat.

His weird gambit on being completely non-committal on brexit because his party is split on the issue clearly backfired.

Edit: well that, and openly promising to nationalize like half of the nation's Industries.

On a more serious note, 55 seats for the SNP would be be massive. Could we see a Labour wipeout in Scotland?

Its nothing to do with Brexit. Do some research on Boris Johnson, hes a racist, homophobe, serial liar, whose party has used dirty underhand tactics throughout the campaign (smearing the opposition leader, posing as an official factcheck account during a key debate while posting solely anti-labour propaganda)

Theres certainly a lot wrong with Labour, and their action (or lack of) on Brexit was actually what disappointed me the most. But Im still shocked that this much of the population would want to vote for this party

Its likely that in some peoples eyes this was basically a Brexit election, yeah. The Brexit Party is projected to get no seats which suggests their voters moved on to the Tories (Brexit Party did not field any candidates in constituencies that Tories were contesting as a tactical decision)

Polls were showing that conservatives would take a majority at best, shrink but hold enough to form a coalition at worst. Them potentially up 70+ seats and Labour down like -50 is well outside of expectations. This is more or less the UK as a whole saying "fuck you" to the entire Labour platform under Corbyn.

No. Up until earlier on this year the Labour position was "let's leave the EU". Even after changing their position, it was changed to "let's confirm have another referendum".
