Why is Dennis in the room with him

Son walked in, asked what was happening, Dad told him, kid said "Okay," and went back to his bedroom. When the woman knocked on the door, kid came back out to open the door because Dad was getting into the zone ans didn't hear it.

The only computer in the house is in the sitting room, which the front door opens into.

The writers are from the 1980s, so Dad is on a 1-900 phone sex hotline and is just viewing swimsuit models on that website as a visual aid to go along with the steamy 5 dollars a minute audio of the call.

The joke is that Dennis is too innocent to cover for his dad, and is instead factually reporting on his dad's activities to his mom, who will be angry.

The joke is Dennis exposing his own biological dad's depravity which will lead into a hostile domestic environment and eventually a bitter, long-drawn divorce that will leave everyone involved with deep psychological scars.

Actually, in spite of horny dad's shenanigan's he has a very forgiving wife. Though, that may be because she knows she could never handle the kid on her own.

But yeah, Dennis just does't know any better.
