Everyone here knows the same amount. Some are just more smug about it >_>. They think they're adding another layer of thought, when they're really not.

That doesn't stop from it being drastically different than before I was born.
I think it does...both before and after life, your consciousness/sentience doesn't exist. That means you aren't there to experience anything either way.

It's like asking the difference between a nonexistent horse and a nonexistent pig.

If you think consciousness/sentience continues after you die, then we hit a wall where we just disagree. Because everything we know tells us our sentience is in our brains. And yeah, it is sad to imagine that we die and this is all we have. If there IS consciousness after we die, it could be great bonus. But there's no reason to think there is, so I just try to make the best of the life I know I have.

I'm not mad at how you feel. I just feel like you're treating me like I have an ignorance that I don't. We're arguing about different points. I agree with everything you're saying. I'm just saying, the difference is the awareness you have when entering that state from a point of prior existence. Really, there is no reason to further this conversation. We don't disagree

Sure. But that dread is only experienced while you're still alive. And after death it vanishes along with the rest of you. The question asked in the topic was "what's it like to be dead?" not "how does the fear of death change your life?"

I thought you and I were genuinely trying to grapple a difficult topic, nothing I said is meant to be taken personally by you. I guess you thought I was just being smug. Never mind, I guess?

Your soul looks down at your dead body, shrugs, and goes, Oh well.

That smug comment was a bit much. I wasn't aiming just specifically at you, but I did a poor job of communicating that. I had just read through some other comments as well. I did go off topic, but I thought it was really clear I was off-topic. You stayed on topic but at the same time made it feel like I was arguing against your on topic statements. Or maybe I just misinterpreted it. Text is funny like that. Irl Im good at reading tones, and incorporating them. It's clear I read this situation wrong. I really don't have anything to add to the on topic subject tho. We really don't know anymore as a whole.
