I think it does...both before and after life, your consciousness/sentience doesn't exist. That means you aren't there to experience anything either way. It's like asking the difference between a nonexistent horse and a nonexistent pig. If you think consciousness/sentience continues after you die, then we hit a wall where we just disagree. Because everything we know tells us our sentience is in our brains. And yeah, it is sad to imagine that we die and this is all we have. If there IS consciousness after we die, it could be great bonus.
