Why is the dialogue and presentation so stilted. It's like one character talks, there's a pause, and then the other character responds, like they're each just reading off a script at an audition table and the cutscene doesn't really flow smoothly.

It was much worse in BBS. But overall the cutscenes are pretty unimportant, since they entire story is in the last bit of the game.

I'm watching a scene in what is supposed to be toy story with all the toys and characters and I'm like oohf this is rough to watch and listen to.

I still can't believe they got a lot of real actors to return and voice some of the disney and pixar movies, but I don't think they got tim allen for buzz did they? They certainly couldn't have gotten tom hanks for woody, disney wouldn't have given their disney money for a video game of all things

I can see what she means, the story went to shit, but gameplay was fun, albeit easy as hell. I put it on the hardest option and still easy stomped my way through the game. Only part I somewhat struggled on was an optional boss near the end.

They released a harder difficulty, but I don't feel like its worth redownloading tbh.

^ ^ KH 1 and 2 are still great. If people didn't already know that KH 3 was going to be crap since like, a decade ago, then that's on them. I'm just remarking over how bad it really is, I didn't know how deep this terribleness goes.

Even gameplay wise it doesn't feel right. I like neither the gameplay elements from BBS nor that stupid 3ddds one, whatever it was called. KH 2 final mix still plays the best in the series.

Yeah, I didn't take it as bad as that, but KH3 definitely made me retroactively look down on the series as a whole due to how awful it was.

It's definitely the biggest letdown I've ever had with a video game.

gameplay has always been fucking mediocre

but you gotta remember that most of its fans are Final Fantasy nerds that usually play turn based games and they dont recognize what a good action game is

I loved KH1, played it to death. Liked KH2, but the Disney stories started to feel way more like random filler at that point. I haven't played KH3.

I was into the original KH canon until the handhelds came along and packed a thousand years of plot into a bunch of undersized filler games. At this point I'm officially out.

If it couldn't be in Disney worlds, then parts in Radiant Garden, Traverse Town, Twilight Town, etc. I didn't expect it to be a 3-4 hour boss gauntlet (or however long it is) tacked onto the Keyblade Graveyard.

To be fair, the Organization had backup plans and they aren't above doing really awful shit just to motivate the heroes to come to them.

But god, the pacing in that game was garbage. How the fuck do you have a three-boss boss fight which interrupts itself with a three minute cutscene any time you kill one of them?

This was really bad. I already didn't really like just mashing multiple org members into one fight but this ruined it completely for me

I'll probably keep playing the series to see where it goes but KH3 pretty much ended the passion I used to feel for the series, not even gonna bother with the DLC

idk how it could even be called a "Keyblade War," if we're being honest.

Ignoring the fact that a conflict between 20-ish people is more of a skirmish than a "war," only about half the combatants even had keyblades in the first place. Most Organization members just used their own personal weapons -- guns, scythes, playing cards, etc.

Would've been one thing if the bosses were designed to fight together, but outside of Marluxia and Larxene having one combo together, everyone just does there own thing, so it feels super disjointed, and your attention is everywhere.

That's the big thing. KH2 (and kind of KH3 even though it's so easy) are very reactionary games. You have to be paying attention to what the boss is doing which is pretty much impossible when three different ones are all doing three different flashy animations.

Maybe it's nostalgia, but I think KH1 is genuinely less cringey than the later titles. Sora, for one, definitely felt more like a character than a MY FRIENDS ARE MY POWERS AND LIGHT IS THE BEST machine.
