Oh man I see what they're doing! Every episode is centered around Zuko bonding with the other members. That's a really nifty idea! Katara finally trusts him. I was worried they were going to show him egging her on to kill the dude, but I'm glad that wasn't what they were going for. It was still a bit worrisome when Katara bloodbended that one soldier though.

But all this non violence Aang is all of a sudden preaching... kinda conflicts with what they've been going through the past three seasons.

I love how Zuko gets time to bond with the Gaang. It's like he's a totally different character from the start of the series.
Right? He's mellowed out, helpful, almost goofy at times which is so surreal to see animated like that. Still has his anger and hot temper, but there's like a change that's come over him. I can't believe how much he's changed but don't even question it because I'm just so happy about it

Ty Lee and May perfectly represent the people who get dragged in a war they don't want to be in and can't leave either out of fear or royalty. Sometimes people do not have a choice.
You know what that's a good point. I was waiting to see something like this in the Fire nation, how war is unpleasant even for the instigators. They showed it a bit in that episode with the poor fire village polluted by that fire nation factory.

The lows of Korra are much lower than the lows of the OG, and the highs aren't as high, but it's still a decent watch.

I wouldn't bother with Korra. Season 1 is ok, I guess. Season 2 is hot trash (even fans of the series agree on this). Season 3 and 4 are a big step up from Season 2, but I still think they are trash, they have good moments, but the key word is moments. Although to be fair I've seen a lot of people who seem to really like Season 3 and 4 for some reason.

I'd say the highs are about as high as a lot of the highs of The Last Airbender, it's just that the lows are lower. They give the villains in Korra more interesting political ideologies though.

I felt that the Imperialism from the Fire Nation in the original series was a bit underdeveloped. You get traces of it in Book 3 towards the beginning, but there could have been more. For example, Fire Nation colonies in the Earth Kingdom are brought up a couple times, but it would've been more interesting for the Gaang to visit one firsthand and possibly hear their version of what's going on. Unless they did, but I don't believe they did.

I'm glad they got sokka and katara's dad out. That was heartwarming. And it's made me hope Zuko gets to reconcile with his uncle before the end.

But holy crap. Did you guys expect that from May? She helped Zuko. She... She does care. I was for sure thinking she like the rest were just brain washed fire nation style. And not only that, Ty Lee struck Azula to save May herself! My jaw dropped. I don't even know what to think right now about them both.

Td you their arc wasnt over.

Korra is very good so yea give it a shot.

Aang has always been fine with fighting, it's the killing of the Fire Lord (murder) that he has a problem with.

Hehe they're watching a play based on their adventures.

I like this episode because it's a clever way to do a recap and more so than that, it reminds me a lot of that Reboot episode.

Reboot was this little known amazing show in the 90s for those that didn't grow up with it, and it had an episode where they did a recap through a play with a song to the tune of that "modern major general" song.

This avatar episode reminded me a lot of that Reboot episode in the best way.

Poor Aang. The play really embarrassed him by pointing out something we were all thinking, that Katara sees him as a little brother type and not in a romantic way.

I also realized that both Sokka and Katara seem to have the most love interests don't they? Those water tribe huh guys. With Sokka it's pretty much every girl that's not his sister, and Katara had that one earth bender dude, Jet, and they even hinted at something going on with Zuko.

Also depressing that the enemy made that play so the audience actually cheers when the Fire Lord wins.

So close now until the comet...

Why does everyone just been like one of four things? Why isn't there there a shit ton of different things people can bend? I don't care about fire, water, air and earth. I want to bend... snakes or... vodka or spiders or like... teleporting guns and rocket launchers to my hands or other cool shit like that, not just boring "four elements" stuff and they aren't even real elements. Nitrogen and platinum and polonium are real elements. Being able to bend polonium would be awesome. You could poison the FUCK outta people and they wouldn't be able to do a god damn thing about it. That shit is super deadly... almost as bad as botox but not quite. Still I would rather have that power than fire or water etc.

Fire, water and air all do that even more than snakes though. Water is literally fluid, air just does whatever and fire is basically just air that's on fire >_>

That's because fire and water and air are all cool. Snakes are just gross. Sure, you could bend them into a puddle of snake or a pyramid of snake, but first you'd hafta find a snake to bend and no one wants to do that.

Machete out of nowhere with a tryhard funny post.

Sokka does have way too many love interests for being a dork most of the time. Aang should have gotten at least one, and Katara gets jealous because of it. Actually I rthink I kind of remember this happening somewhere in the series.

I decided to try Korra during my Christmas break. Ended up binging all 4 seasons over a few days. It was pretty good, but quite different from Avatar. Lows are lower, and highs are lower as well. Music's good, more politics was a nice change, but as others said, there's less substance.

Can't wait to hear TC's reaction to the final episode.

That was... amazing! Aang's avatar state was triggered and that battle with the Fire Lord was gripping! In the end he didn't kill him. I'm kinda glad. He took his bending away, that makes sense. Magic Lion turtle came out of nowhere (was there such a creature mentioned before in the show?)

Still I thought it fit, it makes sense for the avatar to bend the energy of a person, something only the avatar can do

It's shown briefly in the Spirit Library when Aang finds an illustation of one, and statues of it can be seen briefly at Master Piandao's castle (Piandao also comments that Sokka has a heart 'as big as a lion-turtle). S'bout it. I love this show to death, but this is about as clear-cut an example of deus-ex machina that you can find.

Funny thing is, plenty of people who wouldn't give a second thought about the lion turtle complain up and down about how (Legend of Korra spoilers) Korrasami 'came out of nowhere,' despite the latter having more instances of foreshadowing.
